It's a goofy thing the kids do. Trust me, go up to a teem (one that you know), point at their shoes and yell "What are those?" Hilarity should ensue.

Congrats. Work on being personable and projecting your voice (without yelling or being a doofus). At this point, they're looking for people they're comfortable putting on TV.

Work on your periodic table, north good/south bad unless NASCAR, if it's 200 or 400 it's Victoria if not I can't help you.

Congrats, Pru!

I'll let TF chime in on his own, but for me, I think the best advice is to present a slightly enhanced version of your own personality. Whatever way you project humor, as long as it isn't annoying, would be a plus. If you are dry in your humor, then show it.

Here's what you're looking to do, assuming it's the same as two years ago when I did it: First you are going to take a 50 question written test. They put the clue on a big projection screen, and you hand write your answer on a sheet. A new clue pops up every 15 seconds. Here they are simply making sure you didn't use a ringer on the online test, so as long as you're in the neighborhood of your online score, you're fine.

Next they are going to call you up by threes and play a practice game. They'll give you the buzzer, and respond in question form like you would on the show. This will go for a couple minutes, giving everyone a chance to ring in, answer, and select the next category and dollar amount. Don't fret when you're up there. They just want to make sure you're not a dipshit.

After a couple minutes, then they are going to do the story time. Beforehand, they are going to ask for three stories. I'd say practice telling the story in casual conversation beforehand, you want it to sound natural. If there's humor behind it, let your humor show. If it's unique, show how much it meant to do it. They want to see your personality.

You'll do great.

All correct. The coordinators have the magic ability to make you forget they're the arbitrary gateway between you and millions of people. Just listen to directions and be a generally happy person and they'll help you along.

I don't watch much anymore but there's still plenty of wet noodles who make it on the show, and I know there were some smart dancing clowns in my group that never made it. So nobody really has the secret recipe. I bet they like writers/entertainment industry types though...

As far as the test goes, it's just like the online version. You probably know 35-40 answers right now. Keep an eye on current events and brush up on famous lists and you'll add 5-10 more.

Go fight win.

Thanks guys.

I'm excited already - test is on the 15th - already planning out my anecdotes!

I'm not worried about the written test, and will try to keep it calm yet clear on the second part of the test.

There's a fear that I have that I'll make it on the show and be way up as Final Jeopardy starts. Question is on physics and I blow it, and somewhere in a retirement home north of the city, my nasty old science teacher will watch and laugh.
