And the other 50% is to only espouse encouragement and faith in Puerto Rico's ability overcome (as well as the mainland's unwavering support for it during these trying times).

He's garbage. Not politics. Just him. Pure, unadulterated garbage.

Yeah, seeing a lot of gloves come off now from more and more talking heads. Not sure if a tipping point has been reached.

Nope. The tipping point I am referencing is the talking head class stopping the search for him pivoting to “presidential”.

The president calling the mayor of a city ravaged by a hurricane a "politically motivated ingrate" really should be the tipping point.

These guys are amazing at taking a defensible position (it really IS more difficult to provide effective disaster relief to Puerto Rico than to, say, Texas) and making it indefensible within a week.

As a dude who went to Haiti the Sunday after an 8.8 earthquake hit, this line of thinking is bullshit, btw.

4 of the 5 major seaports in Port au Prince couldn't handle incoming ships. The runway at Toussaint Louverture airport was short and dilapidated, but could land an aircraft every 15 minutes by a Combat Controller on dirtbike day and night.

We have what's called a Contingency Response Group in the Air Force. I worked for one in Germany, but the one tasked to deploy to Haiti was out of New Jersey. They were on ground within 48 hours. Spec Ops from Hurlburt Field, Florida were there the night of. We had operations running, I believe, within 12 hours.

And we had so many people on that island that we eventually had daily volunteer efforts to help clear the dead in the collapsed Hotel Montana. Bring vapo-rub for your upper lip.

That was just our end of it. The Navy, Marines, and Army had a huge presence as well. Along with the umpteen other nations involved. Operation Unified Response. Shit was crazy.

How is it that when Trump is reading a prepared speech after a tragedy like today he sounds like a robot? He has no empathy, no warmth, no anger, no anything. He only really gets fired up or shows any emotion when someone has personally hurt him.

Nah.

He didn't call it terrorism. Instead, he rolled it up as 'pure evil'. Which will allow all the Christians to pray harder tonight.

“Look, we have a tragedy,” the president told pool reporters as he boarded Marine One for the first leg of his trip to survey hurricane damage in Puerto Rico. “We’re gonna do... and what happened in Las Vegas is, in many ways, a miracle. The police department has done such an incredible job.”

The guy's an idiot so I'm not going to defend him but I know what he was trying to say. The first responders on the scene somehow got to this guy's room in 15 minutes literally under fire. Under the best of circumstances (i.e. when you're not being fired upon) it's hard to get to a specific hotel room in Las Vegas that quickly and they didn't know exactly what room he was in immediately or what would be waiting for them when they did get there. The doctors and nurses at Las Vegas' Level One trauma centers train for terrorist/multiple casualty events and they undoubtedly saved lives as well. This one guy with these weapons could have easily killed dozens more people if the response hadn't happened so quickly.

Yeah, pretty awesome how quickly they were able to react. I'm sure there's a healthy contingent of police ont he strip at any given moment, but it was still beyond impressive. Was it here I read they were able to pinpoint the room because the smoke alarm went off?
