I don’t want to get into the debate about climate change, but I will simply point out that I think in academia, we all agree that the temperature on Mars is exactly as it is here. Nobody will dispute that.
Average Temp on Earth: 61F
Average Temp on Mars: -80F

Umm, is this guy claiming to be in academia? Why is it that those who challenge science are scientifically challenged?

That guy is majority whip and member of the Committee on Natural Resources and Environment arguing against EPA regulations that would limit CO2 emissions from coal plants in KY.

I just looked him up. Shocking that he owns an "energy company," Mohawk Energy. They sell equipment that supports oil rigs, oil wells and fracking. No conflict of interests there, right? I can't stand when corporate leaders regulate the industries they operate in.

While we are talking about pollution, apparently To protest Obama and faggoty Liberals, Real 'Muricans are rigging their trucks to create MORE pollution and use more gas. They call it "Prius repellent" and blast black smoke at people driving small cars, 'cause they must be Libruls. Besides the idiocy of being proud to create more pollution, how soon before they cause an accident by blinding the driver behind them when they turn on the pollution button? I love the quote from one jackass, I’m not a scientist, but it couldn't be too horrible. There are a lot of factories that are doing way worse than my truck.”

Well, it is illegal.

Enforcement is probably the bigger issue.

That story is almost too good to be true. It might just be the elitist media getting too excited about a self-affirming story. I wonder how many people have actually spent money to buy that.

Whose side are you on! I would hope it isn't too big of a thing, and I would bet it is limited to small geographical areas.

The article mentioned FB groups, so I took a look. One has 224,000 followers. There are dozens of them, 2 have around 25,000. It seems like the term Coal Rolling is more than just an anti-environmentalist/anti-Obama thing. It looks like all diesel truck drivers call themselves coal rollers. Either way, they glorify pollution with such gems as:

I'm not surprised to see a lot of people following on Facebook or otherwise showing their support for the Coal Rolling "movement." There's lots of wingnuts who have just had enough of our namby pamby Euro-socialist cradle to grave homosexuality-affirming environmentalism. But I wonder how many are actually spending money to actually spit smoke at Prius drivers.

I drive a hybrid, but it's a Highlander. So it's still an SUV and therefore still somewhat wasteful. I hope that's acceptable to these assholes.

In Defense of Carbon Dioxide
the demonization of carbon dioxide is just like the demonization of the poor Jews under Hitler. Carbon dioxide is actually a benefit to the world, and so were the Jews
Indeed. What's bizarre is that dude is a physics professor at Princeton! He's not some pseudo-scientist. Also, the article's attempt to say he's in Exxon's pocket was a bit strained. A foundation he works with has taken something like $850K over like 15 years. That's hardly an amount that's going to make a professor go on TV and make an ass of himself.

You know who else found the Jews useful? Hitler.

So his argument is that people who call out deniers are like Nazis, because it is similar to calling out Holocaust deniers for ignoring all of the evidence? I don't recall hearing about the Nazis running around calling out people saying they weren't doing anything wrong. Idiot.

Yeah, but he is way better than the unintelligent arrogant asshat FoxNews always puts on to spar with O'Reilly, Hannity and the gang. That guy infuriates me with his arguments.

He's not the Pope. He'd be horrified by the idea that he speaks for anyone else. It's like everything he despises.

But if we ever do need a spokesperson, I think I'd be tremendous. What does that pay anyway?

My daughter was conceived through parthenogenesis. We didn't have sex for several months before conception. Not sure why my daughter is black, though.

Today is Carl Sagan's 80th birthday. I always liked this video of him teaching 6th graders some Astronomy. Watch how excited he gets at 1:15 when someone asks him a seemingly mundane question.
