Apparently he and Pogba were playing at the local five-a-side place in LA against random donks yesterday

Excited, but I won't believe it until I see him holding up a jersey.

Lindelof, James, a midfield pivot and Lukaku is a great offseason.

Haven't seen anything about James or a midfield pivot. I heard JM was looking to add 4, but haven't seen lately what he's going for. Can't imagine MU and RM do a deal after residual effects of the non-move by DeGea last summer.

From ESPNFC today
17.35 BST: Manchester United are "deep" in talks with Real Madrid over the sale of James Rodriguez, who Jose Mourinho seeks to replace Wayne Rooney in his midfield, according to the Independent. Los Blancos are said to want €70m for the Colombian international, though the English giants will aim to get their man for less.
The defensive midfielder has long been mentioned as one of the four, with Fabinho and Eric Dier most often mentioned.

@utdreport has something about James as well. I don't see a need for another attacking mid. Herrera, Lingard, Mkhitariyan, Mata, Pogba, for likely 3 spots. Maybe Herrera is more defensive mid, and Pogba certainly played deep a lot last year.

I looove the Lindelof/Bailly pairing at CB. Put two of Shaw, Young, Valencia, Darmian, Rojo or Blind on the wings (or sub Rojo for Lindelof/Bailly in the middle for a spell), and that's a hell of a back line.

Looking closer at the roster, and I agree with adding a pivot and attacking mid. There's talent on the squad, but those are both thin spots on the roster. And obviously, add Lukaku.

Honestly sad to see Rooney go. I've been among his biggest detractors over the last three years, but he still brought me a lot of joy over the last 13 years. He's the first young 'holy shit we got him' signing of my fandom, and was a pretty damn good captain. He was frustrating, but a player capable of the impossible at times. Feel the mileage he put in as a youngster contributed to his rapid decline.

Should I give a shit about Alves picking PSG? I've heard of him, which either means he's good or he was once good and since he's the wrong side of 30, I figure it could be the latter.

Alves is great, but Barca already thought he was past it after 2015-2016. For a massive team, they aren't all that great with transfers though. I think he'd help any team for the next 1-2 years.

Put another way, I'm pretty stoked City got Walker instead of him.

Not pleased to see Walker leave Spurs. Longest serving team member who really improved under Pocchetino.

Early last season he was fantastic, but he tailed off around the midway point Trippier eded up winning the starting job from him.

And the transfer market is nuts. Two years ago, Walker would have been a 10-15 million pound player.

My Tot-fan friend likes him so I'm pleased. Just 2-3 more backs and everything's set.

No Spurs fan should say anything bad about Kyle Walker. Speed kills, and he led so, so many attacks for the team. It does hurt to see him on Man City revelling in that dirty oil money, but nothing against him.

BUT unless Guardiola can rein him in as Pocchetino managed to do for the last season and a half, just be aware that while he provides a massive offensive spark, he can also be counted on to give the ball away at some very inopportune times.

(Not saying this is a bad purchase, he is a player that I love to watch.)

So he's Stones, but to the outside?

Perhaps. But Walker is unbelievably fast on the flank. Listen, if money's no object, he is a great pickup. His crossing is decent, and he has a brutal shot.

I am just more than a little pissed that he was sold to an EPL team - especially City - but there will be at least two games this season where Danny Rose will have to take him on.

How common are buyback clauses in sales? I was sad Iheanacho was going but there's a buyback so that seems a nice bit of risk mitigation.

Brighton's a pretty decent place to visit too. Or at least decent enough and it's on the ocean, so there's that.

Are there minuscule gains to be had with slightly angled lines (like how baseball teams might cut the IF grass a certain way) or not worth it?

More advantage in adjusting the size of the pitch than how you cut the grass

Stare at that picture. Imagine running up and down the line, trying to watch play and track the last defender out of the corner of your eye. I totally imagine moments of vertigo, but maybe that's just me.

I always loved officiating on fields with football yard lines, made calling offsides so much easier.

Walking off 10 yards is easier too. For lacrosse games I officiate, the game moves faster because I am not waiting (and yelling) for kids to back up.
