I don't think he would have had to agree to it, he's already blackballed and no owner is going to sign him after settling to avoid having their dirty laundry aired.

I simply await the leaks.

From a legal perspective, I guess he also could have released all future claims which would let teams carry on as they were doing. I’m really shocked at that number—I would have expected something closer to 6-8M.

So the NFL is spending a lot of money to hide some communications. Unfortunately, they do a pretty good job preventing leaks, other than the intentional ones.

This seems right. A provision explicitly stating that he could never play in the NFL again would seem to create a number of additional issues from both sides’ perspective. Let’s say the Panthers get off to a hot start next year before Cam Newton blows out his knee. Would the league actually enter into a settlement that would preclude their owner (who just gave Eric Reid a multi-year contract) from bringing Kaepernick in?

Now I am really curious to know what's in the agreement. I'm sure the owners sign away a ton of rights when they buy a franchise. The NFL keeps such tight control on everything, I wouldn't be surprised at all if they have a mechanism that they could easily blacklist a player. But the easier way to handle it, is having Kaepernick agree not to enter into discussions with any team. That's the last thing the NFL needs, is an owner making a public gripe that they need to sign a QB, and the league forbade them from signing the guy they wanted. Then again, I'm sure the league would hit back with major punishment to an owner who spoke out like that, and most of the owners would rally around the League.

As to Rex's comment, I guarantee Kaepernick had to waive all rights to future claims.

Why is the Betsy Ross flag "associated with slavery"? Is it because that flag is associated with the founding of the US, which allowed slavery at the time? Or is there a more specific reason?
And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.

It's being discussed in the NFL Offseason thread, but the biggest concern seems to be the Betsy Ross flag is now associated with white nationalist groups.

Things have changed up here - CFL is basically a minimum wage league. There will never be another Moon or Theismann up here.
