Not sure what the consensus is but I think Dave Roberts is the best manager in baseball. He makes strong tactical decisions with his bullpens and also shows flexibility in fielding different lineups. Maddon is good, but I think his bullpen decisions haven't been great the last two postseasons.

I go Maddon simply because I think we’ve reached a point where we can say he always gets more out of his teams than he should. He might age out of that or something, but it all works right now.

(Also, Jose Ramirez is just Jose Uribe after a new ID and some conditioning, right?

Francona again. What are you doing worrying about Chase Fucking Headley’s “good side” when it’s Andrew Miller.

I’m very happy for Joe because he seems like a genuine dude. It still changes nothing if the team cares.

Based on retweets Kellyanne Conway is a Yankees fan. They're going to love visiting Trump.

There’s a relatively decent chance that the yanks will be visiting the wh no matter
who wins on the field. Fake news and whatnot.

Is this the same Dave Roberts who intentionally walked Chris Coghlan in the eighth inning of last year's NLCS Game One, with the game tied and runners on first and second? He had also intentionally walked Jason Freaking Heyward earlier that inning.

Every pitcher was getting 2-3 inches off the plate all night, I thought.

So...not to get all up in arms...but I think three crazy celebrations should be the limit. One when you clinch playoff spot. Another when you win LCS, another when you win World Series.

Doesn't matter. The Yankees are going to sweep the Astros.

And the Cubs are going to lose today 7-1.

Eat at Arby's.

Missing games is actually a positive thing. I didn't see more than some passing innings of G1 and G2 then saw all of G3-5. That's what you should do, except without the whole winning the series thing.

Cleveland won fewer games than the Dodgers - how could they be expected to win the World Series?

It's been 12 years since we've been that far. I'll be 53 if I have to wait that long again. I'm going to be watching every pitch.

Also, once Houston traded for Verlander I think they had a better roster than Cleveland. Olney's reaction is classic recency bias. Cleveland had an incredible run in August and September but it was no more impressive than what the Dodgers did earlier in the season. Francona fell into that trap a bit as well, sticking with lineups that he played a lot during the win streak even though they were suboptimal -- and treating Bauer like an ace based on a fluky stretch instead of like the mediocre starter he has typical been.

In Olney's defense, Cleveland's run diff torched the rest of the league. Gap b/w 1 and 2 was wider than the gap b/w 2 and 6.

Eh, I could point to several significant errors that Maddon made in Game 7 of the World Series (pulling Hendricks too early, bringing in Lester mid-inning, etc.), so using one inning or game isn't exactly fair.

Roberts won 90+ games last year, despite an insane number of injuries, and had the team on pace to challenge the all-time wins record this year until they had that nightmare 4 week stretch. And if we're strictly looking at postseason performance, he was great in the NLDS vs. Washington last year.
