So, who is going to get the starts, DeSmith or Jarry? (I picked up DeSmith in both my fantasy hockey leagues).

Why don’t the Blues and the Wild have a yearly “Mississippi River Trophy”? Hockey needs more derbies and rivalry trophies.

Minnesota’s goalie was just concussed — no doubt about it — and they’re leaving him in (Dubnyk).

I get where you were going there and the point is valid. It was appallingly obvious live, but the NHL probably has even fewer safeguards on protecting players injured in-game than the NFL's (which itself are a joke)

Tom Wilson is having a really good year for the Caps. Career high for goals and assists already while continuing to be the tough guy (both legal physical and throwing fists). Yet still no Gordie Howe Trick in his career.

Just crushed Mark Borowiecki and then later in the game a rocket past the glove of Mike Condon. He is fun to watch right now.

Who was the dick that cross checked the Senator after Karlsson scored last night? That guy is a dick.

The video on NHL.com cuts off the play too soon to tell, but that is Wilson fighting on the crease as the goal is scored, "tapping" the guy he was physical with on the leg as he skates toward the boards where Karlsson is gliding around. So I am assuming it is Wilson.

However, I don't see any chatter about it. Was it a big deal or just one of those hockey things that happen (like facewashing)

Unsure. There was definitely a scrum behind the net after the goal, and the hit was definitely after the goal went in. Nice goal by EK though. Tight right wing angle shot.

Filing this away for his inevitable playoff incident + suspension.

The NHLPA polled players on a number of different subjects (who is the fastest skater?, who is the coach you'd like to play for?, etc.) Most answers aren't that surprising, but some were.

Brian, you'll be happy to know that Ryan Reaves won the "who is the toughest player?" poll by a landslide.

So it’s safe to assume SKA never gets called for interference?

That guy has a whole thread of tweets on the subject. Apparently the penalty minute differential is ridiculous between those called on SKA and those called on the opposition.

Winning goal in one game involves a horrendous offside as well.

The PIMs in game one were something like 24 - 0. And even then, the game went to OT, where the refs gave them two more until SKA finally converted and ended the game.

I know this is a stretch, because it's hockey, but this is a perfect example of just how corrupt Putin is... If this doesn't explain what Russia is all about to meathead Americans, nothing will.

It's fucking insanity. That country is a madhouse, and we have morons in this country who don't understand what Trump and his team were/are colluding with a dictator running an oligarchy and straight up murdering the opposition.

Apart from the Minnesota Vikings making an unexpected run, my teams have been shit this year(Vikings, 76ers, Canadiens, West Ham United). The Montreal Canadiens are my number one team, out of all sports, and they took a giant shit on their history this season. Like, shit all over it. Worst season I can remember since the 90's slump. Their All star goalie Carey Price had a shit start and then got "injured", their captain Max Pacioretty can't produce and was constantly in trade talks, their new supposedly all star forward Jonathan Drouin hasn't even broke 40 points yet, and their defense is probably one of the worst in the league without their number one guy, Shea Weber, who has missed the whole season due to injury and probably won't return until next year. I hate cheering for my team to lose so they have a better chance in the draft, but that's what i'm doing.

Go Sharks! Don't like Evander Kane but I love the Sharks, so Go Sharks!

Yeah, in hindsight it was idiotic for me to choose the Montreal side over the Tampa side in any trade. You'd think if anyone would know better ...

Yeah, that's one of those funny anomalies. Sharks have been very good over the years against Washington and Philadelphia. But, almost always lose to Buffalo.

It's fixed to make sure teams that are rarely in it get the first pick, so Chicago will probably win it this year.
