Just gotta get rid of 98% of the coverage area and then it can be named after a city.

Well, VGK is the "Team of the Rockies" so that ain't gonna work.

Wait. What?

Yeah, pretty ballsy for Vegas to claim they’re “the team of the Rockies” when there’s a different team based in Denver,

3. Teams are no longer able to call timeout after icing the puck.

I like 3, I just hope that they don't let teams drag getting back to the dot for the faceoff. The Penguins used this trick and confused substitutions a few times against the Caps in the playoffs last year with no foul, etc. It let a tired team rest a bit more.

On actual thought into this, rule change 3 sucks. They get one time out, let them do what they want.

Five times larger geographic coverage? Avalanche games are carried on Altitude Sports and Entertainment network.
Altitude Sports FAQ wrote:Where is Altitude Sports & Entertainment available?

Colorado Avalanche games are available in the following areas: Colorado, Wyoming, Kansas (except for Kansas City), Nebraska, Montana, Idaho, Utah, Northern New Mexico and Northeastern Nevada.

That pretty much covers the Rocky Mountain region.

That was quite a game. Congrats.

(And, Mr. D might point out that the Avalanche's winning percentage for this season is currently at the same lofty rate as the Golden Knights.)

I just looked and couldn't find the Knights on my cable system. That's too bad. (And I'm looking at the Rocky Mtn right now.)

That does suck because the station is supposed to be on throughout Utah and Montana (those are the two other states the team is targeting for marketing in a big way). So if it's not on in Salt Lake City, then that is kind of counter-productive. Could be they're working on getting it added to whatever your cable company is there as well, though it would have been less critical to get it on in SLC or in other markets than Las Vegas.

I was finally able to find the station. But the VGK games aren't in the listings for either tonight or Tuesday.

SLC is a college football town anyway. Very little attention is paid to hockey.

It appears they've created a "west" sub channel though at the moment both are called ATTRM. Non-live programming is the same but the live programming (i.e. Mountain West games) varies. This alleviates the problem of the Rockies and VGK not being shown where they aren't "supposed" to be.

I saw them up close tonight. Fast team but very fragile. They were up 3-1 then hit 2 posts. 10 minutes later they are down 5-3. Then a 6th goal 0:16 into the 3rd and they gave up.

MaxWebster wrote:yeah i'll agree with you and even this summer it was downright puzzling that management and Paul Maurice especially was rehired. Goalie should be a strength if anything. Neither is elite, but they can hot-hand themselves into a real good place.

The Jets lose too many stupid games like this to be a contender. Defense and goaltending is not good enough. I watched the parts of it yesterday and Byfuglien was skating randomly everywhere. That's no defending.

For the Flames, I'm not too disappointed in yesterday, they were quite organized but couldn't get anything going offensively. Not many teams will hold Edmonton to 2(3) goals this year.

Even if Vegas loses on Tuesday, it will still have the record for the best winning percentage in (Big 4) pro sports history. So here's a trivia question for you -- which team is #2 all-time*?

There was a weird belief among most of the Rangers writers I read that we improved this offseason and it just never looked that way to me. Shatterkirk would have been a great add as a straight add but it wasn't. And you can't just ignore his own zone flaws, or DeAngelo's own zone flaws, or the weight Stepan carried at C or the weight that he didn't that Lindberg did. Overall, team D seems to have clearly taken a step back, even with finally shedding Girardi. And this isn't goddamn hindsight ...

https://twitter.com/Daaavvveeeee/status ... 2580222976

Rangers xGA of 12.5 is leading the league in total by almost 2, although last night helped and a couple other teams are worse by minute.

I'd be worried that Lundqvist's xAGE is approx. 6 higher than the league average.

Though he is younger than Craig Anderson, and you know how well he can still play.

Yeah, GMGM said at the presser yesterday with the national media that tonight isn't the "real" home opener. They're going to hold back some of the stuff they were going to do for the game on Friday against the Red Wings instead because of the need to honor the first responders, etc. from last week.

Early days yet.

Went to my first game of the season last night. Was on edge walking in as I noticed a fan with a sign asking for the team to suspend JT Brown. I was very interested to see if he protested again, and what the response from the crowd would be. I was not optimistic about what the response would be. There's a lot of white in the crowd at a Bolts game, and the sports crowd in town isn't known for being the brightest, (lots of sports radio listening mouth breathers). He was a scratch last night, so the anthem went off without incident.

I thought the teams were relatively evenly matched throughout the first period and a half or so, but the Caps got a few early goals, and it felt like there was no way the Bolts were going to respond. It ended up being quite the comeback (from 2-0, and 3-1), with Kucherov's shot in OT caroming off Point for the winner.

I was ready to lower my expectations for the season based on the beginning 30 minutes, but the team responded well. Girardi really does suck, but the Callahan, Kunitz, Paquette line really led the way on the forecheck and helped turn the tide. Stamkos is still a little rusty. Hedman's passes weren't as crisp as usual. Kucherov is amazing. Sergachev is going to be a good one, I think. Early days yet.

Image I believe the "Ping" was part of a power play early in the third where the Bolts just dominated.

This Kucherov play was fantastic.

They still didn't play all that well, it was Henrik winning and AV deciding that justifies his dipshit lineup decisions. He's not a coach who can handle a roster with a lot of "unproven non-star kids versus proven mediocre veterans" decisions and that's where we are now.

And last night's game in Tampa proved this point about the shaky D, particularly the third pair. They got torched a couple of times in pretty glaring fashion. Yes, it was a nice backhand by Kucherov... Should've been handled/closed down a lot better than that by Chorney.
