Corsica has the xGA at 4.24 for TB, so Grubauer did indeed overperform (probably especially given that he's a backup?). I really like the xG / xGA stuff.

Gonna be a shitty afternoon. Any baseball fans currently, somewhere in their heads, rooting against their team this fall?

Hard time so far figuring things out. No consistency across the league really. Although, one thing Ive decided is that Toronto is going to have a good offense.

I'm worried about my Sharks. 0-2 and didn't look good in either game.

Regarding the JT Brown thing, it has to be tough for him, considering a protest in such a lily white league as the NHL, based at a team in the deep south. Joel Ward of the Sharks also publicly mused about kneeling, but ultimately said he isn't going to do it.

I was disappointed at the Caps game v. Montreal, they kept playing Land Down Under for Nathan Walker. Sure it was the first NHL game for an Aussie and first goal, but couldn't the Caps have rigged up an Aussie Aussie Aussie, Oy, Oy, Oy.

Devante Smith-Pelly has support for whatever he decides with the Caps. However, he is from Ontario. Is taking a knee for the US National Anthem the right thing to do when you are Canadian? Seth and Caleb Jones may be a more interesting take.

I was just going to say -- that's the thing, right. I don't know what the percentage of black players who are Canadian is, but it's gotta be around 80 percent? How many of the 20-25 (I think that's about right?) black players in the NHL are American?

Might not win too many games at first but going to be tough to beat the pregame atmosphere at VGK games.

This thing they did with the people in the medical and security field was super cool. Kinda dusty in here.

Yeah I mentioned this on Facebook, but the cheers were louder for the nurses and doctors and EMTs and cops than they were for the players (excepting maybe Neal and Fleury).

It goes without saying that it sucks that they had to do it, especially for the first game in franchise history, but it really was a perfect way to handle honoring the victims and trying to acknowledge the way the community came together. And then to just destroy the Coyotes for the first 10 minutes and go up 4-0 was such a release.

Despite my joking to the contrary, no one really expects this team to make the playoffs so I looked at it as the team having two playoffs games this year -- the season opener on Friday and last night so it was a relief and a joy to win them both.

And, tonight the backup goalie gets his first ever NHL win by holding his former team to one goal. Amazing.

and quickly deleted it.

Social media is quite unbearable this morning with racist shit. Lots of people are going to get outed and hopefully lose their jobs.

The election was pretty close. Nenshi got 51% while his opponent Smith got 44%. Smith was really an corporate shill/empty suit who bumbled his entire campaign and still got close.

It will be interesting how the Flames proceed after the disaster last month. It's up to them to go back to the table.

Not the concussion Holy Grail, but a timely enough article on how the Pens are one of just two teams (CHI) to have team doctor travel with the team.

If you're in Canada or Pittsburgh tonight (or have Center/re Ice), you get to see EDM/PIT. NBCSN will be showing DET/BUF for everyone else (and will be featuring BUF again tomorrow on Rivalry Night, against the BJs).
