That does cross the mind, yes.
The New York Times is now reporting that the Cohen search was in fact related to the hush money paid to Daniels and McDougall. Trump is so greedy and disdainful of the law that I could totally see him using campaign funds for those payments. That’s essentially what John Edwards was indicted for back in 2011.
To state the glaringly obvious - even if this just drags on and nothing definitive comes of this, the stain on the presidency, the disgrace, the embarrassment...

It is just sickening. What a sad, pathetic commentary that so many are still defending this piece of human garbage.

The warrant was also for bank fraud, which several pundits are saying could be for Cohen lying to the bank in getting a home equity loan (as he publicly stated) to raise money to pay off Stormy.

Oh, and Dershowitz is right, we shouldn't be talking about Trump and Cohen, the real scandal is the ACLU not coming out to defend the President's Rights! Who is going to stand up and protect the Most Powerful Man in the World, if not the ACLU? It's despicable.

Dershowitz is a master of the classic Fox News shtick where you claim to be a Democrat and/or liberal in an attempt to give legitimacy to an extreme right-wing view. Back in 2008, when I was in law school, I attended a debate between Dershowitz and a French professor about Dershowitz’s prior support for the use of torture. He frankly embarrassed himself and was completely unprofessional to students and other professors present.

Interesting, I'd love to hear more about this. I went to a Dershowitz guest speaker session in law school, too. I don't remember what it was about, just thinking that Dershowitz came across as the most arrogant douchebag I'd ever met. There was a homeless guy who was always in my school's library. He stood up and challenged Dershowitz , and I thought the homeless guy got the better of him on the merits of the debate. I watched Dershowitz interacting with students and professors at the reception afterwards, and he just oozed a gross, negative energy. I can't think of a better way to say it. I'm not a new-agey kind of guy, but I just felt gross being near him.

More to the point, I wrote my law journal note (30 pages, 200 footnote minimum, and they call it a note) on state sanctioned used of torture focussed on an Israeli Commission that investigated the effectiveness and legality of torture. The majority of scholarly work advocating for torture was written by Dershowitz. He flew in the face of just about every consensus, and his points were deplorable. I really wish I could find a copy of my note, or the floppy disk it's saved on.

The debate on torture I attended included Dershowitz and Philippe Sands (who’s actually British, not French). Sands is a prominent international law scholar and had written a book critical of the role of Bush Administration attorneys in sanctioning torture. Sands was clearly the more persuasive and polished speaker and it was evident that most in attendance agreed with him. This led to Dershowitz acting petulantly and berating those who questioned his arguments. He completely lost his cool on one international student. I believe the student was from Iran and he pointed out (in a very respectful way) the rhetorical similarities between Dershowitz’s arguments on state-sanctioned torture and those used by Middle Eastern despots. I don’t recall too much else, other than thinking that Dershowitz came across incredibly poorly.

So, I went and got my hair cut today. While I was waiting, I could overhear a conversation across the room between an old man and an old woman. The old dude was holding court, "educating" her on various issues with factually-incorrect statements. Stuff like "he heard on some radio show all about how Mueller is corrupt and had wasted millions of taxpayer dollars in past jobs", and how "Jerry Brown is wasting all the California taxpayers' dollars and has caused California to go broke." (Fact is that he entered office with a deficit and California now has a surplus.) These kind of people drive me nuts.

I was doing a slow burn, getting kind of pissed off. That is bad, because after recent events it is important that I stay in a low-stress mode. So, of course I said nothing and just kind of fumed, while trying to ignore him. Luckily, it wasn't long before I was in the chair getting my hair cut, talking about mindless bullshit with the haircutter.

I think I said in an older Swamp that the average IQ would go up 20 points if we banned talking in places where people get their hair cut.

But yeah, I wish I could temporarily go deaf in those places and a few others (doctor's office waiting rooms would probably be second).

How low can you go?

The origin of the aphorism "Keep your friends close and your enemies closer" is a mystery, but it is the advice that Trump should have followed.

Great Republican Presidential quotes:
Teddy Roosevelt wrote:“Officeholders are the agents of the people, not their masters.”
Eisenhower wrote:"War is mankind’s most tragic and stupid folly; to seek or advise its deliberate provocation is a black crime against all men.”
Lincoln wrote:“Character is like a tree and reputation its shadow. The shadow is what we think it is and the tree is the real thing.”
Reagan wrote:“I know in my heart that man is good, that what is right will always eventually triumph, and there is purpose and worth to each and every life.”
Trump wrote:"Can you imagine me with hookers?"

Cohen is so fucked...

Sources: Mueller has evidence Cohen was in Prague in 2016, confirming part of dossier
The Justice Department special counsel has evidence that Donald Trump’s personal lawyer and confidant, Michael Cohen, secretly made a late-summer trip to Prague during the 2016 presidential campaign, according to two sources familiar with the matter.

Confirmation of the trip would lend credence to a retired British spy’s report that Cohen strategized there with a powerful Kremlin figure about Russian meddling in the U.S. election.

It would also be one of the most significant developments thus far in Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation of whether the Trump campaign and the Kremlin worked together to help Trump win the White House.
