This. Unless shame and guilt exists within the culture that propped up this scumbag, people's future feelings about the past is pointless. (And tangentially speaking, using the phrase "wrong side of history" is a bit too tsk tsk and uppity for the person saying it.)

Germany had its reckoning post Hitler and to this day many older folks feel a burden to the rest of the world. You think the offspring of Goober P. Buttfucks in MAGA-land will feel that way in 30 years?
Not when 30 years means two distinct generations of Buttfucks.

Not for a second. They have their media that will be there to tell them that what ever problems there are... none of them are their fault. And as long as there are Blacks and uppity women in the country, nothing bad is their fault.

Much speculation has surrounded the lengthy, 24-day lack of first lady sightings, spawning conspiracy theories ranging from plastic surgery to a stealth move back to New York City, all of which Grisham has denied.

The stuff Trump brought up in his tweets really has been circulating broadly and some journalists and news outlets have participated in those unfounded rumors.

Degen is right. Here’s a journalist with 160K Twitter followers, who was a reliable Clinton mouthpiece during the 2016 primaries, wildly speculating that Trump had recently assaulted her:

Facelift (or some other kind of plastic surgery) I had heard and for awhile, it was definitely a plausible scenario. It would track with this White House to lie about that and call it a "kidney procedure" or whatever their front story was, but even if true I don't care and I can't imagine too many people would. The fact that it's going on almost a month now though is legitimately pretty weird.

My loathing of Trump and his cartel is all-encompassing. He is a lying piece of human garbage.

Couching a serious accusation in such a way that you aren't really making an accusation is shameful. I know that it's something Trump would do, and I know that he deserves every bit of filth thrown at him.

But generally speaking, this tweet is pretty despicable.

Yes, but does it represent "mainstream media"? I hadn't heard any 'attacks' from any major outlets, and if this is being trotted out as an example of that, then... meh.

I think if you have a blue check mark beside your twitter name you're representing the company you work for.

But even if the argument was these guys aren't mainstream media, the “real news outlets” are still paying attention to the rumors and spreading it.

Take this article from USA today

'Missing' Melania Trump returns to FLOTUS duty at White House

Why is the word missing in quotes? What purpose does it serve?

A fucking tweet is not a news story.

Show me a legitimate article from a mainstream source that can be construed as an "attack".

Maybe because Trump pointed at empty windows and said, "look, you can see Melania right there."

This is typical Trump, "many people are saying I'm the greatest _____" when nobody is saying it. Also typical ploy used by the RW media, take a stupid comment by a fringe Lefty, and argue, "all Liberals believe this asinine idea, as proof, here is a clip of Tucker Carlson interviewing a mentally ill college student." Tucker frames the argument as "all Liberals believe ____" instead of saying "you believe" to the person, so the viewers can say look, Liberalism is a mental disorder!

I watch a lot of clips from various news and punditry outlets, and I have never heard them attack Melania for her absence, or speculate as to where she is. I've heard comedians and my father make jokes, but never a news organization.

Oh, I get your point 100%.

This is not The Times or, etc., etc. But the comment itself, the way it's phrased is just reprehensible.

But, it is Trump, so fuck it.

On the cusp of getting something right, Trump finds a way to get it horrifically wrong ...

"I'm gonna ask all of those people (protesting NFL players) to recommend to me ... people that they think were unfairly treated by the justice system and I'm gonna ask them to recommend to me, people that were unfairly treated, friends of theirs or people that they know about and im gonna take a look at those applications. And if I find and my committee finds that they were unfairly treated, then we will pardon them or at least let them out."

Drives me nuts hearing idiots either celebrating Trump pardoning Kim K's pet project, or citing it as proof of Trump being great for The Blacks and the Forgotten Man. Meanwhile, his AG is on a raging mission to crack down and incarcerate thousands more, with harsher sentences, for the same exact petty crimes.
