Was there CIA involvement in writing/spreading the song? This is a rumor that has been floated from within the Agency.

8 episodes trying to track it down is a really fascinating ride.
thanks, nonlinear!

endorse this podcast enough. i am in the middle of the third episode and really want to learn more about that nina simone show in lagos and simone in general.

in episode 2 he alluded to the glomar project when the cia tried to grab a soviet sub off the floor of the pacific ocean. if you like this podcast, make time to read "the taking of k-129" by josh dean. dean chronicles the whole operation from learning about the sub accident through the engineering challenges to how the operation impacted the lives of various individuals. long book but fascinating and enthralling and goes by quick.

There's GOT to be a movie about the glomar thing, right?

Gonna google it.

Huh. Apparently not.

Dartmouth has a podcast about the whole college admissions process. I found it very interesting even though I don't have kids. If you have kids close to college age, 11th graders especially, this could be some good information.

Lately, 'Hunk' with comedian Mike Bridenstine has been having zoom calls with other comedians, where he'll ask them general questions to get them riffing on stuff.

On one a few weeks ago, he asked 'With John Lewis dying, who is the greatest living American?'. The only name the panel came up with was Mel Brooks.

I spent a few days thinking about it, and came up with Dolly Parton, and tweeted it to him.

On the most recent episode, he brought up the question again, and name dropped my twitter handle with my suggestion. Most of the panel was onboard with it.

Anime youtubers have a podcast. 14 episodes in it's pretty funny. If you're into that or want to know more it's a good starting point.

They also discuss other issues like living in Japan and about abuse on the internet.

I bet Pruitt has some stories from the company's perspective. He should make a podcast.

A follow up to this...on a more recent episode, one of the questions was "If aliens showed up at your house, and asked to be taken to your leader, who would you take them to?". I answered on twitter that the answer should be LeBron. He agreed and gave me another shoutout on the next pod.

Even though I already listen to 3 soccer podcasts (Men In Blazers, Totally Football, Guardian Football Weekly) I've also started to listen to the Stadio/Ringer FC one, and really enjoy it.

And I think I've mentioned that I listen to podcasts to help put me back to sleep when I wake up in the middle of the night and my mind starts to whirl. Its gotta be something interesting enough to distract my thoughts, but not so interesting that I won't nod off during it. I've recently discovered "The Episodic Table Of Elements", which is a chemistry podcast which each episode talking about an element. Its perfect to fall asleep to.

In Our Time by the BBC, I think, was amazing for getting back to sleep. Right now I listen to Hockey Central at noon to fall asleep. I wouldn't recommend it to fall asleep to, but it's better than other stuff that I care more about.

Also, Total Soccer Show is fantastic. I listen to that, and some of the Football Ramble stuff, but it's a lot now that they've gone daily. I always like MiB when I listen, but not enough to makee choose it over TSS and FR.

Here's your problem getting to sleep: stop going to bed at noon. That's too early.

Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon is the absolute best thing to listen to when you can't sleep. I believe it induces a deeper level of sleep, and some weird psychedelic dream states.

If you aren't listening to The Connect you are doing yourself a huge disservice. It helps to have seen the movies, but is hardly necessary. Shea Serrano and Jason Concepcion are hilarious together.

Those two, Ryan and Greenwald are the only thing that brings me back to the Ringer, especially after hearing all of the shit about how awful their management is.

So I listened to a good chunk of the first season while running last weekend, and it's pretty funny. It's a radio comedy sketch show set in a NJ suburb. Sort of lowkey absurd, and not overly Jersey, other than regular references to (and one episode set in) the Shoprite of Branchburg. My immediate comparison would have been "I Think You Should Leave Now" and Tim Robinson is in the first episode of season 2. So there you go.

Katie Nolan has been the guest on the "All Fantasy Everything" the last 3 episodes (the topics: Crimes we'd like to commit, Voices, and Iconic Facial Hair). She's a great guest. Pretty quick with a joke, and has great chemistry with the other 3 guys.

I still go back and listen to their best Disney song AFE they did in NYC, must be 2 or more years gone by.

She's a delight. The fact that Jason Whitlock doesn't like her just makes her more charming to me.

I have this thing where I need to start from E1 on podcasts.. There are just too many inside jokes you miss otherwise.

So, I started with her very first few and they were really funny, trying to name the podcast itself.

That said, she does a lot of very topical sports references, which makes going back that far kind of annoying. This is very much a me issue, but I can't really figure out a way to solve it.

I agree. It's very inside joke driven but topical as well. They just recently switched to a new 3rd man in, producer, extra guy, whatever you want to call it to co host with Ashley and Katie, so a few episodes back might be a not-too-intimidating jump in point. They also just announced they're going to 2 days per week coming up.

That really sums it up. I listed to a lot of it at 1.5 speed, and Kanye seemed even crazier. Basically, Joe kept saying how crazy it was to put Kanye on meds for his bipolar disorder, Kanye isn't crazy, he just has a ton of amazing ideas flooding him and he can't hold them back long enough to get one idea out. Kanye is clearly suffering from some major delusions and believes God is directly communicating to him and he is a conduit for God. God told him to run for President, and he legit believes he is on a mission from God to save the US. Kind of wish I watched the video, not that I've ever watched a podcast, because I think the visuals of seeing Kanye would have given a much better picture of his mental state.
