NFL Week 10 - it's midway in America

Post by brian »

So the Lions opened as -13 favorites against Cleveland, but it got bet down to -12 as of right now (at the two books I looked at). Only reason I mention is the Lions have never been favored by more than 12 points in a game in their history so depending on if the line moves could be some history there.

(They're 3-0 ATS as a 12-point favorite though.)

Can't wait until the PA does nothing and this precedent gets used on concussions in the future.

Didn't he have to pass a physical when he signed with Green Bay?

Yeah, but I think the (Green Bay & legal) argument is there are physical issues you can have that wouldn't be found in a physical. I don't know if concussion history is one of those things, but it seems like if that's what Green Bay is arguing could be a precendent-setting lawsuit that could have some serious affects on the league (and labor relations).

Zeke suspension upheld again. If I'm reading right, only next step would be to appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Or ol' JJ has his new lawyer's Mossad contacts take out Goodell and makes sure his hand-picked replacement drops the case?

Midway through the 3rd quarter and I've decided that life is too short to watch such crappy football.

Oh, and the only thing less surprising than a lackluster Steelers performance (coming off the bye) against a shitty team is Burfict being Burfict.

It took two months, but I finally got my first "all three New York teams" NFL Sunday after not renewing Sunday Ticket this season.

And the timing is exquisite.

It is classic Lions to basically win only because they knocked out a horrible rookie QB having the game of his life.

A Chicago hack columnist is driving the "Harbaugh to the Bears" bandwagon.

Gonna need the jaws of life to get that bank vault open far enough to give him the contract he'll ask for, so I don't think it'll ever happen.

Even if you assume money was a factor to someone already making $10 million a year in his supposed dream job, I don't think he'd take a job with the Bears. I don't think Harbaugh is done with the NFL, but I don't see him taking that job at this time.

If and when he does it'll likely be a team with a can't miss QB in a warm weather market. (That's not a diss on Trubisky as much as it sounds, but I think it's fair to say the jury is still out.)

I don't know how much weather matters to him but there aren't many better jobs likely to come available from a QB perspective.

Maybe Tampa depending on what you think of Winston. Luck is such a question mark right now.

There's two things:

I don't see any way he leaves Michigan after only three years regardless of the situation. He's well paid and he knows there will be 5 to 7 new jobs year after next and the year after that, many of which will likely feature young QBs or the opportunity to draft one. Want to be clear here. I'm not saying he stays forever, but I don't see him leaving in less than five years.

His wife is from California and is reportedly pretty happy in Ann Arbor, but I suspect they will both get the itch to move back to the west coast eventually. So I think that will factor in to the thought process. If he's going to stay somewhere with cold weather it'll be Ann Arbor (for now).

That ref calling Gore down before he was stripped by Vince Williams yesterday and then changing the call to his forward progress being stopped so it couldn't be challenged after the other ref told him it was clean was borderline suspicious.

Fun bit in one of the Chicago papers:

John Fox has now been favored six times as the Bears’ head coach, according to Pro Football Reference. He has won zero of those games.
