Super Bowl LII thread - Eagles vs Pats II - Backup Boogaloo
Two weeks. Going to be a lot of fun getting through this fortnight.
Eagles owe the Pats one.
This Eagles team is poised with a chip on their shoulder.
Who let the dogs out?

If the Eagles somehow win, Nick Foles will have one of the strangest career arcs ever. He’d have one of the most efficient seasons in NFL history and a Super Bowl sandwiched around a whole bunch of sub-replacement level play.
Re: Super Bowl LII thread - Eagles vs Pats II - Backup Boogaloo
I wonder if a storyline in these next two weeks will be Nick Foles throwing to Gronk at the U of A.
Also, will Foles' ribs be given the Brady thumb treatment? Of course not.

Probably because the Eagles will just say what's wrong with his ribs, like most teams do.

Nick Foles 27 and 2 season featured more dropped INTs than any other QB season I can remember.

The New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles finished the 2017 regular season records and point differential.
The Patriots both scored and allowed exactly one more point than the Eagles.

Until these Vikings fans actually do it, and then do it time and time again, yes.

Yeah, this is a pretty ridiculous argument. I had Lions season tickets for more than a decade and there's no comparison between Vikings fans and Eagles fans. None. My experiences watching Eagles games in front of Eagles fans in Las Vegas has also led me to believe that sociopathy is basically part of rooting for the Eagles.Gunpowder wrote: ↑Mon Jan 22, 2018 5:35 pmAvram wrote: ↑Mon Jan 22, 2018 3:55 pm But Phiily fans are the worst?

There was a huge Eagles bar in Las Vegas when I first moved here called Jersey's. Owner was a Philly guy who went to Michigan State, so they featured MSU games on Saturdays and Eagles on Sundays. Most of my friends out here are MSU alums, so I'd go up there on Saturdays especially, they'd put the CMU game (if it was on TV) on one or two of the TVs, have a few beers and a good time was had by all.
Sundays were a completely different animal. We went up there one time when the Lions were on a bye and watched the early games and Philly had the Sunday night game, so we were drinking and having a good time and decided to stick around to watch the late game and the Eagles fans were all drunk and belligerent by the end of the first quarter (and the Eagles were winning!). They were throwing plastic bottles at the big screen TV and completely disrespecting the owner and the staff. We had to take off.
The following Saturday we caught up with the owner and we asked "is it like that every week?" and he said "yeah, basically". It was a little worse because it was a night game, but essentially "that's just part of being a Philly fan" was the essentially verbatim response.
So, essentially Philly fans are just proud of it from everything I've seen and heard. Which -- OK, I guess -- but don't be surprised when the rest of the country thinks you're assholes.

So in terms of fan bases, it's psychotic animals versus perpetual whiners.

This might sound weird but I legit don’t care about this game. That’s not a take. Not sure if I’ve ever felt that way about a Super Bowl (maybe the Indy/Chicago one).

Stunning statement considering where you live!
Nah, I know what you mean - this one doesn't excite me much. But that's why there's gambling. Basically cleaning up all debts and credits from the football season with my buddies by doing the "double or nothing" on this game. (talking the low, low three figures in total.)
Took the Eagles and the under.

Brady leading the league in passing yards and winning the MVP for the season, but losing the Super Bowl, makes total sense to me.
The former because it has never happened. And I'm not sure about the latter, (someone correct me) but glancing over the league MVPs, it doesn't appear to have happened. Double hilarious that when it's a quarterback that wins, he seemed to have lost the Super Bowl that season.

Dan Marino pulled off the passing yards title, MVP and SB loss trifecta in his second season in the league. In fact, he set a record for passing yards that year. Montana, Young, Favre and Warner all won the SB in an MVP season, but since Warner, MVP QBs are 0-7 in the SB.
ETA: Bradshaw also won MVP and a SB in the same season.

Also Bart Starr after Super Bowl I. I missed that on a sporcle quiz once and it stuck in my memory.
