Bella, 7, meets hero Aaron Mooy after flying to Huddersfield from Texas

My goose bumps have goose bumps.

Little girl who spent last summer taking chemo for brain cancer.
She had fallen asleep watching Disney movies. Her dad Scott had switched channels as Bella snoozed, landing on a World Cup match involving Australia and the shaven-headed Mooy.

"I like him. He is like me," Bella declared, pointing to her own head, shorn of what had been long, beautiful curls by powerful chemotherapy treatment.

I know this is morbid, but if that were my only kid, I don't see how I don't end it.

How about if it's not your only kid? How do you deal with it with the surviving kid(s)? That's one thing I thought about since our kids are 8 and 4. Younger one is old enough to certainly remember it.

In that instance you have to go on for the other kid, no matter how awful it is.

One of my best friends (and my wife's absolute best friend) from high school has dealt with tragedy involving the death of a child. She also has twins, who are older than the deceased. Happened 8 or 9 years ago and she has various means of coping, one of the central is celebrating his life.

But it has been really tough. I'm honestly not sure if she would've been able to get through it without those other kids. Certainly don't think she would've kept the marriage together.

It is a terror that is always there in the back of your mind from the day you realize that you are going to become parents.

You sadists. There is no fucking way I'm ever even clicking on the link, much less reading that.

I told them not to read it.

It was really well written, and the passage where he discussed the terror Pruitt mentions above, and how it just naturally subsides until... It was just so real.

But yeah, that excerpt was enough and I could never read the book it was taken from.

Meant to type "masochists". I wouldn't be good with leather and whips and chains.

I clicked on this guy's obituary from my hometown paper because I loved the picture so much.

Image

Aaaaaand he died trying to rescue the dog after falling through the ice on a walk.
James Timothy “Jim” Philopena, 59, died Thursday, April 4, 2019, while attempting to rescue his true companion, Murphy, from Meetinghouse Pond in Marlborough. He will be endlessly missed by all who knew and loved him.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Pets4Luv, 1504 Old Country Road, Westbury, NY 11590, where Murphy was adopted by his hero in April 2018.

Huge laugh here. To make up for that I proposed on Veteran's Day, yesterday. She liked 11/11 as a date. I just had the day off of work. Check the coffee mug in the foreground. (This is a screenshot from the video I took. What you're missing is the laundry room filled completely with balloons and her unable to open the garage door into it for the first couple minutes.)
