Are we just making this the season-long thread?

Can we change the title?

Also, this is fun:
With the win last night, the Reds improve the record on Monday to 3 wins and 1 loss. They have outscored the opponents 26-10.

In games on all other days of the week, they are 1-17 and have been outscored 111-45.

More importantly, it's good to see Sal Romano back on his feet.

Feel like I should write this thought out for future mockery, but the Yankees are legitimately looking like they might not have room for Machado.

Not sure how the Twins recover from that and pull themselves out of this early season spiral...<checks schedule - sees they host Reds this weekend>...never mind.

Not a bad game so far. It's 10-8 in the 5th.

Curious as to why Giles was even pitching to Sanchez there with the free base open?

Not sure if you were watching, but it very much looked like a big dick moment on the mound. Hinch came out, they talked it over and then Giles tried to start him with the same slider he did the night before.

And it hung there, begging to get deposited out of the deepest of ballparks. On the one hand, I get why they’d go out there and set him straight on that AB (because ultimately they need to know if last year’s postseason meltdown is par for the course or not), but that situation begged for an IBB and for Aaron Hicks to beat you.

I have taken enough Ubers (well, Lyft, but still) that this sounds 100 percent accurate. The BFIB couldn't point out other cities on a map.

Eh, I don’t think there’s much of an overlap between people who drive for Uber here (who, in my experience, are mostly people just trying to make ends meet) and the BFIB, which is probably a more affluent group overall. It’s a funny quote from Votto, but I’m sure the drivers were just trying their best to make polite small talk and Pujols might’ve been the only player they knew of. A true BFIB would namedrop Molina and/or Wainwright instead of Pujols, and pretend that those guys were the “heart and soul” of those teams.

Or talk about how much they hate Dexter Fowler. And Carlos Martinez. And I'm sure Marcell Ozuna.

Well, sure it was just a cheap joke. The real BFIB would probably say now they're glad Votto beat Pujols that year because Pujols is a money-grubbing prima donna, etc., etc., etc.

I was going to point out that 3000 H / 500 HR / 300 W aren't automatic bids anymore but they kinda still are. Everyone without a PED whisper is in.

(And there's no way he gets there. At his current NL hit rate, he needs 981 more games. Thats > five more seasons of full-time starter duty for a 34 year old corner who has floated around the 105 OPS+ mark the last few seasons before his current bounce.)

The whole point of the article is that he has a small chance, not that he's a lock or anything. (James puts it at 28 percent, I think it's closer to 10 percent based on the other comps I saw, but even 10 percent is a real, legitimate chance.)

(I feel really bad for him. He absolutely comes off as a jerk, or really is a jerk, but not of his offenses are all that bad and he's always seemed acutely aware of and somewhat burdened by the attention on him.)
