I really don't know much about him, so didn't know if there was a specific reason people don't like him.

A local NJ reporter (who you might remember from his review of all 16 Waffle Houses in the immediate vicinity of Augusta National) won the Masters press lottery and got to play a round on Monday. It didn't go well. Faldo's pep talk was pretty good.

Maybe this should go in the confessions thread, but I've never really understood the hate. And that's before learning a lot of what the article mentions. I've never had any desire to eat at his restaurants, but I've eaten at some good places that his show has highlighted. If you ever come to Houston and check the places he's been here, they're all fucking great places to eat that people might not have necessarily heard of if they haven't seen his show.

This article at Minneapolis' City Pages has some less-than-stellar things about Fieri. That said, the quotes are from the show's original producer, who had the show yanked from him, so he has an axe to grind.

"You have to protect Guy from all of his poop jokes," Page says. "Anytime any woman mentioned 'cream,' Guy went into a sexual riff. When cutting the show, you had to tell the editors to watch Guy's eye line, because it's always on breasts."

Fieri also needed protection from homosexuals, or at least advance warning. Early in the show's run, Page got a phone call from Fieri, who'd just walked out of a restaurant in a huff.

"Guy had decided that the two men running the restaurant were life partners," Page remembers. "He said, 'You can't send me to talk to gay people without warning! Those people weird me out!'"

From then on, show researchers were required to note any indications of homosexuality detected during pre-interviews. (Fieri declined to comment for this story through his spokespeople.)

He's a douche. That said, I like his show and have checked out a few of the places he has featured. I would never eat at anything where he was in control of the menu, but his research staff clearly knows their shit.

He's pretty harmless as TV personalities go, IMO.
