Spring Reading Thread

Post by Pruitt »

This has been on my shelf for a while, but in light of recent events, figured it was a timely read.

First 100 pages have flown by. I've read three of Eggers' books, and loved them all.

Reads a bit like a B- senior undergrad paper, but interesting nonetheless.

"The Circle" was good, and sadly very true to life in many ways.

But at 500 pages, it is very, very bloated. And most of the characters spoke in the exact same voice. Skimming it kept it interesting.

Memoir of the colorful life of a self-promoting, impulsive, self-described NHL outcast. He pretty much admits he is an asshole who does asshole things, as he bemoans bad outcomes that he usually brought onto himself. Sometimes he comes off as endearing, but often-times as a jerk. Interesting read, though. He makes sure you know he got a lot of tail.
