My bad, thought he was officially a rookie. I knew he was up and down between San Diego and Anaheim, but didn't think he had enough games.

What are you talking about? You want to call someone out, do it.

I think Rush feels disrespected that Brian has been talking this much about Vegas without ever once comparing their run to something Tom Brady did.

bri - You think a 2nd line shake-up is in the offing?

My not very astute take just following up on what you guys were talking about after G2... Things didn't seem much better on Saturday.

You think Wilson has been warned the refs will be handing out penalties to Washington tonight? Maybe even a double minor or major!

Yeah, I think they'll either shuffle the second and third lines somehow or plug in Tatar for someone, most likely Perron. But there will be changes. The second line has been garbage offensively and defensively.

Well, I now longer have a source for Red Wings news. That's what I'm really upset about. They must have folded or something. Cause evidently they no longer exist.

Tatar definitely in the lineup per Gallant, but he wouldn't say for whom, but it appears to be Perron.

So, if Washington wins the series in five games, I'm guessing we'll see our second Russian Conn Smythe trophy winner.

Remember who was he first one?

Look this series is over. Still it’s worth noting. In the entire history of pro sports a team has only lost a 3 games to 1 deficit 52 times. It has happened to the Caps alone 5 of those 52 times.

Was coming here to hint around this.

And I said I wouldn’t talk about this being a different Caps team anymore. So I won’t.

Because that would be annoying. So. I won’t do that.

Its really a no-lose situation now for an Eastern Conference fan who doesn't hold serious hatred for the Caps. Either the sanctity of the NHL(tm) is upheld or the Caps fade in yet another series.

(The Tom Wilson 3rd period minor last night would have made me furious as a Caps fan regardless of result. It was down to a 2 goal difference and Vegas was chasing him around taking minor after minor and the refs wouldn't act until they could justify offsetting it. Could have flipped the entire series.)

I feel Vegas has been good all season long and took it to the next level for these playoffs. Washington on the other hand seems to elevate their compete in every single game throughout these playoffs. It wasn't very long ago the Blue Jackets were up 2-0 in the series and overtime in Game 3 and headlines were reading Ovi can't get it done. Fast forward a couple series and they look unstoppable.

They almost let the other team decide how the game is going to go and are able to match or beat the opponent on any style. Tampa tried the crash and bang in game 6 and Washington had the bruisers to match with ease. Vegas has tried the high speed heavy on the offensive side style and Washington has the superstars to beat Vegas at that game. Play a tight checking game and Washington has shown that they can prevent just about anything from developing through the neutral zone.

Take all of that, add some great goaltending and lucky post breaks and they are going to be very tough to come back on.

So tickets to game 6 (if there is one) could break NHL secondary market records (closing in $2K for upper deck).

So there was a Mystics game at 7 which would have impacted the viewing party....so WNBA game gets moved to 4, Teddy L giving tickets away to the WNBA game and you can stay for the Caps game (i.e. come watch the WNBA game and you will get prime seating for the viewing party 1st come/1st serve)...plus extra concession stand sales. Downtown will be crazy tomorrow night.

I tried grabbing those tickets, which went online at 1pm.

Three of my family online, using laptops and phones (6 total.)

Shutout. Thing was probably "sold" out in less than 5 minutes.

It's gonna be weird for the Mystics to sit through a second half listening to Caps chants.

Yeah, yeah, absolutely. It's almost like the best prank ever pulled... I think I saw one where they showed up at a little league game randomly and had hundreds "fans" and then a professional play by play guy. Kids were a little freaked, then got totally into it. Very cute.

The reality is that it's a work day and puck drop isn't until 8. The doors may open super early, but I don't think the place is gonna fill up until around 6-6:30, right after the game is over.

Yeah, probably. There's idiots everywhere. Just thinking out loud though if you have a superstar who is going to be a free agent in a few months, might not want to question his loyalty over something that has literally nothing to do with the team he plays for. It's too bad really because the Nats could be good for awhile if he stays, but losing that 5 WAR (on average) for the next few years will be the difference between being a playoff contender every year and mediocrity. He's opaque enough that's it's impossible to guess how much he likes it in Washington.

Well, for the most part people here have bent over backwards erring on the side of "he's OUR young punk superstar, so you shut your dirty mouth" about whatever thing that seems to upset opposing fanbases about him so much.

And for HIS part, with very few exceptions that I can really even recall, he's fully embraced being The Guy and is very open to taking pictures and going out and being among the community and stuff.

He's absolutely smart to be inscrutable. And I'm sure the Yankees are going to make it tough to stay. That said, it's not like the Nats have been cheap spend thrifts.

I guess I'd flip this around and say "what did he think was going to happen" and add that the guy has prove to be very savvy about things... I would find it incredible that in 4-5 months (or whenever) the decisions and negotiations are going on, he's going to be all butthurt about VERY mild push back on him getting grief for wearing opposing colors in the arena during a final.

Also, what kind of reaction would he get at Rangers game in the same situation? You kidding me?
