Harden obliterates regular season defenses but he’s typically not as efficient in the postseason when defenses lock in more. He’s still good in the playoffs but not quite at the MVP level he perennially plays at in the regular season.

So basically the NBA this year is like the World Cup. A third-place game the day before the championship game.

Oh how I missed the 1990's NBA. All that's missing from these playoffs is John Tesh and a few more guys getting decked in the face.

It's Game 7, there's a lot of flopping for calls.

Assuming Thomas could have put off his surgery until the offseason, does Boston win the series if the Kyrie trade never happens?

Thomas looked horrible when he played this season. Due to his lack of size he’ll always be a bad defender. So unless he’s a ++ offensive player (as he certainly was for the Celtics) he’s not a valuable player.

I highly doubt he gets the second title in Cleveland, but LeBron going 4-for-4 in winning the East for Miami, then immediately doing the same in Cleveland is something else. Obviously the East has been the weaker conference this decade but it’s still incredible that you could probably add LeBron to literally any team in the NBA and still win the East. The 2018 Cavs without LeBron would be really, really bad—like Knicks post-Porzingis injury level bad.

He only played in 3 G7s, and Pippen was on all of those teams.

This year’s postseason reminds me of 2007 in that I’ll probably remember LeBron’s greatness in the East playoffs more than I’ll remember the West power that destroys the Cavs in the Finals.

Scrappy underdogs who added a top-10 all-time player to what was already the league’s most talented team and can now win championships despite coasting for the entire regular season and not even showing up for the first half of playoff games! What a heroic team!

2017-18 NBA champions either way. Only question is GS in 4 or 5.

i really think if cp3 was healthy we had a great chance to beat golden state. i hope we rid ourselves of ryan anderson and get one more piece and give it one more run next year but i think we are looking good no matter what. fuck this hurts though

Cleveland is markedly worse than they were last year, so this could get very ugly. Warriors opened at -1000, which makes them the biggest Finals favorite since at least 2001. Cleveland has perhaps the best player ever, who’s on a ridiculous postseason tear, and there’s absolutely nothing they can do to win this series. Attempting to duplicate the Rockets’ Game 4-5 strategy is probably the best idea but as Houston’s performance in the second half of Games 6-7 showed, that type of supreme defensive effort just ends up exhausting your guys after a few games.

I just feel bad for whomever the Rockets open next season against because when their three-point shooting finally regresses to the mean, it's gonna get ugly.

I like how Zach Lowe has given up hope for a competitive series and his annual “How the Cavs Can Beat the Warriors” column is instead titled “All the Ways the Cavs May Play to Try to Beat the Warriors.” I think this is the biggest Finals mismatch in my entire time watching the NBA, which goes back to the early 1990s. The only other contenders would be 2001 Lakers-Sixers and 2007 Spurs-Cavs.

I'd give Both of those the nod...unless Kevin Love can't play at all. He would have been the clear second-best player on both of those teams, too.

I'd go so far as to say it's a contender for biggest major sports final mismatch in a long time. Maybe going back to the '80s Super Bowl blowouts.

If we went through all this drama the last few weeks just to get "Warriors over Cavs in 5," this is gonna suck.

Say, this match was more difficult for the Warriors than I was led to believe would be the case. That James chap played admirably.

LeBron was amazing, Kevin Love was very good and Nance gave some good minutes off the bench. The rest of the Cavs were beyond worthless last night. JR had the idiotic mental breakdown, but how about George Hill just makes that FT? Unfortunately, that poor play from the supporting cast wasn’t an aberration. LeBron has been winning playoff games virtual singlehandedly all postseason, which has been incredible to watch.

Also, Draymond getting T’d up for complaining about a foul call on a play where he actually made LeBron’s eye bleed and Steph talking trash to a guy who just scored 51 points was Peak Warriors.

Was there anyone else surprised that block/charge call can be reviewed in the last 2 minutes? I had no idea. When did that get added?
