Perhaps. Maybe I’m looking at it wrongly.
Like “name a _______” song to the 90% who don’t otherwise give a shit. REM is “Everybody Hurts”, Nirvana is “Smells Like Teen Spirit”, etc.

I’d argue you have the wrong REM song, but that’s a question that could kill some time one day. Consensus THE SONG for relatively prolific bands.

I use my young teen daughters to help me answer these types of questions. They know Smells Like Teen Spirit and Losing My Religion. I have played other songs from the bands catalogs, but those two are what they always say when I mention either of those bands.

I think Losing My Religion was the song that elevated them into the minds of people who weren’t really following music. I’d been listening to them since their first album, and they were plateaued for a long time before that song.

On the other hand, Everybody Hurts seems to have gotten its widespread recognition several years after its original release. Man on the Moon and Drive were the bigger songs on that album when it was current.

Led Zeppelin IV was released 50 years ago today.

And they just recently figured out who is on the cover.

They play CO a lot. C'mon out. We'll drink some homebrew before we hit the breweries.

They are one of the best bands I have ever seen live.

My oldest might come out too. I found out her and a friend learned about the band and found the name funny and eventually a teacher had to tell them to shut up because they'd ask "Ms. _______, are you going to the Ween show this weekend" and shit too often.

A teacher at my kid's elementary school has a Boognish (the spikey smiley band symbol) on her car she'd probably love a kid asking her about Bananas and Blow.
