Yep. I need to go back and read some of his “lesser” stuff but his best stacks up against the greatest American novelists.

Beyond a shadow of a doubt.

"Goodbye Columbus," "The Human Stain," "The Plot Against America," "American Pastoral" all masterpieces.

The worst book of his I read was simply very good.

One of the greats.

How you can make a Roth list and not include "Portnoy's Complaint" is beyond me.

'American Pastoral' is genius. As is "Portnoy's Complaint".

I liked it, but I didn't love it. Could have been a matter of the time and place when I read it?

That’s the first dirty-ish book I ever read.
