Stiff game! Was very impressed at your play. Looked like in the middle of Double Jeopardy you were struggling with the buzzer a little bit against the Hoosier, but some great gets and some unlucky categories. US IRA Investment firms? What a drag. Your geography/language knowledge was stellar!

Good get on Final and the right wager too. Sorry our little frog charm didn't work. Pass it on to the next frog that needs a little luck. Surely it's got some stored up.

(Also, when the interview section happened, I turned to my wife and said "I bet this is about Paw Patrol". She was amazed!)

I didn't watch (forgot to set the PVR!) but just went through the game on J-Archive. That was a tough set of answers, IMO. Nice work making it to the big stage!

I said this privately, but those were 3 cakewalk daily doubles that completely decided the game. 14 right and 1 wrong against 2 good players and you still need luck. Not really sure how I feel about the champ thinking heart disease could be one word.

I had a tweet show up in my feed right before the game aired wishing Kat good luck. She's an editor for Mental Floss.

I kinda thought she might run away with the game early.

Echo what you said about cakewalk DDs. No one took huge advantage, but they decided the game.

There's no way in hell I get Final Jeopardy right. It could be 2+2=? and I'd talk myself out of 4 because it's supposed to be harder than that, so Romeo and Juliet would have gotten the same treatment.

It was a riot.

And it was just bad luck that I didn;t get that Rockefeller DD question and that IRA category destroyed me.

Thing with the Champ is that he is a super sweet guy. Married to a Black woman in small city Indiana and has an adult son with autism.

Hard to cheer against him - especially considering what pricks the champ going into the Monday show and the Tuesday champ are.

I am glowing!

Some poster over on JBOARD said
I don't know how many casual observers (or even contestants) would recognize it, but Frank's wager was genius.
Anonymous praise from complete strangers is actually very uplifting.

Also, in a good week, I get 10 people looking at my LinkedIn profile - 736 in the last 24 hours. My 15 minutes of minor fame is about to end, but it was a lot of fun!

I knew pancreatic cancer is one of the fastest and most lethal, but damn. Stage 4 pancreatic cancer has a 1% survival rate, and the life expectancy is 2-6 months. My grandmother died from pancreatic cancer, and it was amazing how fast she deteriorated. That was 25+ years ago, but I don't think the treatment has improved much.

It's what took my father in law at age 61. He lasted 16 months...had a good quality of life (other than having to go to doctors, treatments, etc.) up until the final month.

In the past, I've done it in bars with a bunch of funny people.

Tonight is more of a date night thing. My daughter thinks that it's be obnoxious if I walked in wearing the Jeopardy! hat they gave me after the show.

But oh yes... I'm bringing theJeopardy! pen. Throwing it down on our table will be the equivalent of a Mike Tyson stare down with these hipster punks.

It was a bloodbath - we (or rather "I" - my wife simply drank wine) won by over 25 points. Punks didn't know what hit them.

A definitely minor league group. Next week, I'm with a team at one of the larger bar trivia nights in the city. Finally back in the trivia game.

One category was identifying the athletes on Wheaties Boxes.

Some of the hipsters didn't even know what Wheaties are.

8 teams - only one got Kevin Garnett. A couple guessed Michael Jordan and one wrote "Shack?"

Felt like a tune-up fight...

We do monthly trivia at a local watering hole. It's some Geeks that Drink knock off. It has a math question, a riddle question, and some arcane ass shit. We've done pretty well though. Only placed out of the money once and unless the gaggle of college girls were big on WhatIfSports I have a hard time believing they didn't get some electronic help on Cy Young winners of the early 1960s.
