According to imdb, Breakin came out in May 1984, and Breakin' 2 was released in December 1984. That would make it seven year old me, and how did they release the sequel only seven months later? The story and acting are so great, you could never tell it was made in one long weekend in early June.

Around half of my first 50 or so albums were bought from the second-hand bins. Getting LPs like Cream's "Disraeli Gears" for 50 cents was a good feeling. This worked well for me because I started buying albums in the early 70s, which meant some good 60s albums were starting to hit the second-hand market.

Double albums were also starting to come out. Those were good deals on a cost per minute of music basis. And some were essentially live greatest hits albums.

I joined both back in the day. Never understood why people said it was a scam. Sure, some of the initial 12 for a penny I would never have paid for in a store, but the required purchases after the initial giveaway wasn't all that much, and it was all stuff I would have bought anyways. Downside is I got stuck with Steve Miller Band's Greatest Hits along with 10 discs I wanted. Considering I had a collection of 2 or 3 CDs at the time, it was a great way to build.

Had it for a long long time but after it finally gave out I could never replace it, on any format. Finally came across that Best of Omen mp3 on Amazon around 2003, I think, and caved in easily. I would have paid $10 for just the one track. Amazing song.

I didn't have any of those, but I was a hard-rocker through my teens for sure - but an earlier era, with such favorite bands in the 1970s that included Kiss, UFO, Montrose, Scorpions, Foghat, Rush, etc. Hell, I still have some of 'em on my ipod.

Thanks, I think. My tastes are all over the map, not just the novelty metal above. I don't own any CD's today actually, I ripped everything to HD and gave the media to the local library. My Spotify contents would make G.G. Allin cry. From Gojira to Jobim to Shad and back again. The Shins are my current weakness, their newest Port of Morrow is a masterpiece. You must listen to it.
