Summer Reading Thread
A real quick read - halfway through it and I have laughed out loud 4 or 5 times. Very funny.

Did you see that ludicrous display last night?

I know AB is a big Guy Clark fan, HDO, too. Interesting and affectionate biography written by his publicist.

Yeah I read that. It’s pretty cool to get stories behind a lot of the songs without her even saying so.

My wife bought me this last Christmas:
I just finished it. Not a general interest read perhaps, but for someone who has interests in both physical sciences and Cold War history, it's an absolute gem. I always had a particular interest in Landau, and I've collected some old textbooks written by him going back to my university days.

Recently read a New York Times Magazine piece about Gerald Murnane, this really odd Australian writer - a recluse who is supposedly one of the favourites for the Nobel Prize.
Thought I'd give it a try.
What a strange and excellent writer.

Very good novel set in Leningrad during the siege.

Just finished this. Drags a tad in places when he gets into twitter and other social media as ways of pushing hits, but the historical look at what made things popular is fascinating (i.e. the Impressionist movement is popular basically because of the early death of a patron of the 7 big impressionists.)

I want to see it, but $25 is a bit steep.

Re: Summer Reading Thread
So this was underwhelming if you’d read the book. There were a few extra insights given by Earle, Crowell, and verlon. I liked it but it probably just want worth the money. The afterwards with Earle was not very good. Kinda all over the place.A_B wrote: ↑Fri Mar 26, 2021 9:00 amHey sc (and giff and bsf and any other texas songwriter fans.)
