I fucking hate Max Rushden. As much as I love Barry Glendenning, I can't listen to FW and haven't listened since he started hosting. The name-dropping, bad jokes, and the TMZ-style gossipy way he would lead some discussions was all too much for me. I pretty much just listen to Jimbo's pod. MIB also has worn thin for me and never quite got into Football Ramble.

That is idiot money. And I can pretty much guarantee that all of that Russian money is being laundered and the net effect will be that Chelsea is weaker in goal this season.

Wait. What? You mean replacing a top five keeper with a not top five keeper means they will be weaker in goal? Take it to the hot takes thread, man!

Someone explain why they took Kovacic without an option rather than a different player or "more money" to find a more permanent piece? All a play for the Champions League?

That's the way Football Ramble was for me. I tried to listen to it, but they all seemed way too amused by their own jokes.

Barry seems like he'd be a fun guy to be sitting next to in a pub, nursing a pint, watching a match.

Chelsea was in a tough spot for negotiating about Courtois, because he only had one year left, had been saying for a while he wanted to return to Madrid, and he didn't show up for training. That's also why they had to panic buy Kepa. Maybe they should have read the tea leaves sooner and made a different deal, but there are only so many top-flight goalies available.

And, they may have been working on the Kovacic deal as part of it. Apparently, the theory is that he's a perfect fit for Sarri-ball, so they'll have a midfield three of Kovacic, Jorginho, and Kante. That's a pretty damn solid midfield.

From what I read, it's not clear if they have an option on Kovacic or not. It's been reported both ways.

Granted, they played a bad team that has a lineup in flux and a new manager...

But yeah, they looked special out there. And it's always fun to see West Ham beaten badly.

Love that Woodward basically told him to fuck off re: transfers, and that Pogba seems to have grown into confidence. It might not be enough to right the ship with Jose seemingly committed to running it aground, but it's at least a sign that Jose isn't as omnipotent as he used to be..The reports that United are looking to hire a director of football are giving me some optimism as well.

Deep analysis by a City Superfan (2016-Present) ...

Forwards: Too good, 2nd team is better than pretty much every other team's 1st, save a few. Aguero won't be starting by the end of the season (and maybe leaves in January transfer?).

Midfielders: Kinda ugly aside from Bernardo. Could be an issue in Champions league and against top teams, Arsenal botched a couple chances and probably shouldn't have been shut out.

Defense: Is what Mendy does normal or is he a wild card? Walker looked awesome but inside of a structure whereas Mendy was just all over the damn place. Laporte had a real shitty giveaway but otherwise the CBs were strong.

Goaltender: Looked bored, got sloppy.

Manager: Always looks good.

Arsenal: Manager looks like a less hot Trudeau, forwards all seem good but completely disconnected, defense is probably good but City isn't really defend-able(?), the guy with the Fellaini hair looks like he'll be a good one.

It's only for three months. And it's not as if they don't have three wunderkids who can fill in for him.

The worst thing that happens is they lose A game this year.

Can't remember if it was the Total Soccer guys or the Football Ramble guys, but they believe the Zidane rumors from a week or so ago were floated by Zizou's camp, as it would have been most logical coming from him. I'm not willing to put it past Woodward to have leaked it to light a fire under Jose, but I really want a manager who makes talent better, not the opposite.

Can you imagine Pogba and Martial unleashed under Zizou? (and Sanchez, and Lukaku, and Rashford, and Lingard, and Mata, and Pereira, and McTominay...)

Newcastle defends the whole game, goes down 0-1. Then attacks and gets the equalizer.

Goes back to defending and loses 1-2.

Not sure who tonight's game is bigger for, but I lean to Spurs. Even if United win tonight I think they have zero chance of winning the league. If Spurs wanna show they're worth taking seriously this year, they gotta win tonight. Maybe a touch ridiculous to say their title hopes are over if they lose tonight, but they're never gonna get a better look at winning at Old Trafford given what a mess United are at the moment. A loss just makes it tough to take Spurs seriously.

Jose's so tricky. During warm ups, the CBs practiced with four at the back, but they came out with 3 CBs instead. Sneaky!

Man U could've played with five CBs and I don't think it would've mattered.

Pocchetino changed some things at the half - because that's what a quality manager does.

What the fuck is wrong with Mourinho - he brought in a lot of the players who were thrashed today. Weird that even when it was 0-0 the Spurs fans were a lot louder than the Man U fans. And hearing the "You're Shit" song ringing out at Old Trafford at the end of the game was comedy gold.

Moura, Kane, Alderweireld, Dembele awesome game all around. United have the players, but right now, they look almost as bad as Chelsea did during its last season under "the great one."
