Never had a good one. Had two Dysons. Yellow one broke but did good enough for a couple years. Still have a purple one. Nothing special but it works.

We have the hand-held Dyson that is designed for pet hair (good on other stuff too!) It is good.

Have a Miele PowerLine. 6-7 years now, no issues at all.

I get too many mixed reviews about Dysons to feel good. Those Mieles look BA but I think I'll wait until the next house.

Spoilers, I bought a Shark that Target had on sale. Nothing special but hopefully it'll last a year or so and I can pony up for a BIFL model.

One thing I'll say about Dysons is they live up to their warranty. We had one die after two years and they replaced it with a better model free of charge and that one has hummed along for six years and three very hairy, sheddy dogs. I think they're worth the money, but it's a lot of money, so going a little cheaper and being OK with only getting a couple or three years out of it is understandable.

We've had a Kenmore for at least 10 years, it is a beast.

We have a shark and it does a great job for us.

I’m on my second Kenmore canister vacuum. The first one is still in use at my father in law’s house. It is 20 years old. I love them. They can get all the way under a bed with no fiddling with attachments. All the attachments store on board (not true of the Dyson I also own and dislike). I like vacuums that use bags because emptying a bagless always makes a mess.

The only negative for me is that it is cumbersome on stairs. But I’m not frail and can manage okay. The powered attachment for small areas more than makes up for it when vacuuming carpeted stairs and upholstery (both in the house and my van).

Been married a month and the sucking is done. Sounds right.

We have a Simplicity vacuum. Works great, doesn't break down. Sucks hard (in a good way!)

We used to have a bag vac and switched to a dyson battery powered a year ago. It's awesome. Great sucking and cleans up easily. We found that we use it much more than the old one because it's so easy without any cords and we were able to store it closer to where we spend the most time.
