It looks like Gonzaga is going to do most classes online, with some as a 'hybrid'. We got an email yesterday basically saying that kids have to 'apply' to be on-campus/in the dorms for the fall.

What a disaster.

Today’s load-up and go day. Drop off tomorrow.

Out of nowhere driving home from the grocery yesterday I started to cry as it hit me. This one is gonna be hard.

And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.

This is good for me to read on a day when the kids are being more difficult than normal.

shit TB, i feel for you. hope for all the right reasons it's a very boring and uneventful drop-off.

we drop off our oldest a week from today. i've already had a few of those moments this week and even though it'll only be a few hours away, the drive back is gonna be brutal. we're a tight unit.

So this means that when we met up for lunch, college kid would have been right about the age of my oldest now. That ... doesn't affect me at all. Good luck.

So, our daughter’s lease is up on Aug 25 . Her new lease doesn’t start until Sept 1st. She is (finally) checking to see if she can move in early. If not, they’ll have to find short-term storage for furniture. The wife and I are going to drive up to Seattle to help her move. Luckily, I find no evidence of quarantine requirements for Washington or Oregon. Probably booking a vrbo or air bnb for a week. If we find a pet-friendly place, we might bring the dog. Sheesh.
So, the above is definitely happening, bringing the dog, too. On the positive side, it's the closest thing we'll have to a vacation this year and we'll get some quality time with my daughter as she spends her limbo week between leases with us, so that's cool.

DaveinSeattle - we are staying at a place very near Green Lake, in the Greenwood district. If that's not too far for you, maybe we could have a socially distanced beer together one evening or afternoon at the park?

Couple of pints after getting back to the hotel tonight. Long day, but the kid is in her first non-sublet apartment. She's excited and I am too.

Anyone else see two topless college girls today? Apparently curtains are not the #1 purchase when moving into an apartment. (We hung curtains this afternoon thankyouverymuch.)

And Boston is flat killing it with masks. There was one guy who almost walked into the Wegman's without a mask but remembered and ran back to his car.

Yes, it was me.

Sounds like we are on similar paths, AB. We moved my daughter into her apartment today. What a pain in the ass. But we hung out at a park for awhile after the work was done and that was sweet. Right now, my wife and daughter are out buying groceries and household goods for her. The dog is keeping me company at the air bnb while I enjoy some Seattle craft beer. We've had the best weather here I've ever experienced in Seattle. Not looking forward to starting the drive home tomorrow back toward my hot, smoky state.

Oh man, the weather has been fantastic. Mid 70s. Warm in her room, but we had a couple of fans going for circulation. We opened up a window as I finished hanging up some lights after the sun went down and it was downright delightful with a fan pulling the evening air in. Still don't feel like I got to experience too much of Boston, but I really like the neighborhood she is in. Lots of students and emergency boxes on every street.

I've lived in the swampy Florida weather for most of my life. The hottest I've ever been was when I went to Boston in August to move my stuff out of my apartment.

Where is she living (approximately, not looking to make a surprise visit)?

Forgot how disgusting Boston gets in the summer. We had a power outage once when it was over 100 degrees. My apartment was so unbearable, I filled the tub with cold water and drank in the tub for a couple hours until I could pass out. Tried going outside at night, but it was so humid, it was better in the ice bath.

The good thing (non-sarcasm) is that you really only need a long weekend to feel like you've seen all of Boston + the main inner suburbs. You won't get to eat everywhere you'd want to, but you can hit easily hit every neighborhood by T and walking. Some day when there's no pandemic, I'll sneak away from my family in the middle of the night and we can totally do this, movie montage style.

I would totally watch that movie. Very true, I was shocked at how small Boston is, you really can walk and experience the whole city in a day. It's a great city to wander, for sure.

Made it to Ashtabula, OH. Sorry, Sabo couldn't make it the extra hour and show up on your doorstep. Absolutely wiped out and I have to do another hour of schoolwork tonight. Niagara Falls side trip was a great decision. I was hoping to cross the bridge into Canada but they won't let dirty americans in at the moment. Youngest and I greatly enjoyed seeing the falls.

Oh, man. Falls from the American side sucks. And the town of Niagara Falls, NY was a completely rundown shithole, though it's been 18 years since I've been there, maybe they turned it around? While NF, Ontario is, well, an upscale Tijuana with one of the Natural Wonders of the World in the middle of it. Again, been 18 years, maybe it's gotten better? It was actually on a large upswing due to the money brought in by the giant casino.

The city looked fine to me. Definetly touristy in a beach kind of way but clean and not too crowded. But it was Wednesday of course.

If anyone needs me I will be sitting here at my computer reviewing an application to be the president of the greek council. I have the terrible football game on one screen, but this is the college equivalent of "I have an art project due tomorrow and wal mart closes in 15 minutes."

If anyone needs me I will be sitting here at my computer reviewing an application to be the president of the greek council. I have the terrible football game on one screen, but this is the college equivalent of "I have an art project due tomorrow and wal mart closes in 15 minutes."
FYI the art project was successful. President of the Greek council for 2021.
Which AB are you?

Small correction president of the sorority council. Sorry for the confusion!
This "Whoa, Nelly" is brought to you by Nelly's Organic candy bars. Tastes like the good stuff, without the bad stuff. Whoa, Nelly!
