Yeah, I use both too, depending on context.

And in the south, there are two ways to pronounce "root" as well.

That is Cal. Cal, BJ Surhoff and Mike Bordick did a Facebook live event with a local radio station to benefit Pathfinders for Autism. They were discussing the 1997 season.

I like the style of your blue zippered pull-over. You could give Cal some sartorial lessons.

That's quite a get for the non-profit organization. Is there a personal connection between the former Orioles and your group?

The organization BFJ works for was founded by B.J. Surhoff and his wife.

Got to spend some time today with John McDaid. Besides doing government sales for Microsoft (Shirley's co-worker) he is also an SEC football crew chief. Guy has worked Iron Bowls, a BCS Championship, numerous bowl games, and was an NFL Europe Official (talked about not making it to the NFL). He was one of our speakers at lacrosse referee training. Very cool perspective on officiating and leadership. Also helps that his kids are lacrosse players and he has watched lots of games and just introduced himself to one of our officials a few years back (who then googled him to realize who he was).

If the woman Ted broke up with on her birthday twice lives near me, I saw her at Whole Foods yesterday. If not, she has a ringer here.

Winter Olympics is my time for brushes. Several years ago I met the parents of Mia Manganello, who was part of the bronze-winning US women's speed skating relay team. It turned out they were from the small town where my in-laws live, and owned a restaurant we used to frequent there.

And my son went to junior high with Nathan Chen, though I think Chen was a year ahead of him. My son said that Chen was kind-of a dick.
And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.

We are in Portland for my GF's daughter's graduation from Grad School, and ate dinner last night at an AMAZING restaurant (Ava Gene's).

Anyways, sitting at the next table was Peter Buck, guitarist from REM.

I am more surprised you have not run into him in Seattle. Since the 90s he has had a house there. Although apparently he spends time in Portland and Todos Santos.

I sat next to Terry Schappert on my flight yesterday - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terry_Schappert

He's a former Green Beret who has done quite a bit of TV work since he retired. I thought I recognized him (although, honestly, I don't recall watching any of those shows - maybe I saw commercials for them), and my first thought was that he was Henry Rollins. He is about the right age, has lots of tats, is very fit and muscular, and he sounds a hell of a lot like him. Fortunately, I didn't embarrass myself by asking him if he was Henry Rollins.

(Ha, I just googled their names together and found text on his own website that says "who looks and sounds uncannily like Henry Rollins")

I just found out a soccer mom from one of my kids teams was Sarah Koenig(Serial Podcast). They aren't on the same team now, but they were for a few years. I've never listened to it. Would it still hold up? I could use something new to listen to.

Straight up objective take: Yes, the first season would still hold up, especially if you don't know much about the backstory or what has come to light after it first aired.

Guy that got in way too deep and listened to multiple companion and follow-up podcasts not affiliated with Serial: It is maddening to listen to. I'll leave it at that, so as not to douse your enthusiasm with nerd-talk.

Always thought him still keeping up the early 1900's circus ringmaster mustache decades after he retired was an underrated level of commitment.
