NFL Week 7

Post by Gunpowder »

Nate Peterman is so bad that people are ignoring that Derek Anderson is atrocious himself. Should be fun.

I picked up the Colts D for this week and have picked the 1-5 Colts in survivor, so I am hoping my memory is correct about how bad Anderson is...

Same here.

Don;t sleep on how putrid the Bills offence is. Horrifying to think that Josh Allen who may or may not be NFL calibre is by far the best of the 3 QBs they will have started this year. And their receiving corps would make a decent QB look like JP Losman.

The pity of it is that since the 2nd week, the defence has been excellent.

In its own way this is insanely fucking impressive. The lowest-rated primetime game ever in NFL history.

I know Pats don’t want to hear it but this team I garbage. If they played in a real division they’d be lucky to make the playoffs. If you have the Lions and Bears tearing your shit up your defense is horrible.

When Aaron Rodgers’ agent hooked him up as spokesman/endorser for State Farm, I bet he didn’t anticipate that they would launch a series of commercials that would portray the agent as an insecure moron.

Justin Tucker misses the first PAT of his career and the Ravens lose 24-23. Brutal.

The NFL is weird this year. It looks like Washington is probably the team to beat in the NFC East and they do NOT seem like a good team at all. I think you could probably make a realistic case that every team in the NFC North is better than the best team in the NFC East.

Kerryon Johnson got to 100 yards yesterday two carries faster than Barry Sanders ever did in his career.

(Means almost nothing really because it's not a meaningful stat, just interesting. Only reason I mention it is that Johnson might already be the best RB the Lions have had since Sanders, which goes to show how horrible that position has been for them for the last two decades.)

I was legit surprised TB let him try that 59-yarder. It looks genius now of course, but would have been some hell to pay if he shanked it, Cleveland gets the ball at midfield and gets one first down before kicking its own game-winning FG. Though with two minutes left in the game, punting it there means essentially playing for the tie. It was an interesting game theory decision.

I think he would have missed the winner too, if it was from 40 yards. Looked like it hooked into position in the last 20 yards.

I hope Oakland doesn't let them re-negotiate one more year at the Coliseum for any price and they have to play in San Antonio or San Diego next season. That would be hilarious.

Not realistically, no. Would require way too much work to make it viable as an NFL stadium, even for just one year.

I don't understand how we operate in an NFL where Josh Gordon is a 5th and Amari Cooper is a 1st. I simply don't understand draft pick economy.

I think part of it is simply that Cleveland is bad at this sort of thing.

Many teams also place way too much emphasis on players’ “character,” regardless of whether it’s perceived as good or bad. That’s how a Bible thumper like Nathan Peterman keeps getting chances despite his awful play, while someone like Gordon can be had for a very low price.
