I'm not saying they aren't a very good team. And they may snap out of it once they get back into playing truly competitive conference games. But their record and ranking is not reflected by their play the last run of games. Not even close.
So, turns out the team needed some motivation to get back to playing high level ball. They wire-to-wire blew Indiana out on Sunday in a dominant performance. Three turnovers and crazy high FG percentage pretty had the game put away by halftime. They also got significant contribution from their FR center Johns. (8pts, 8 reb). They can run multiple guys through just about every position, which is going to come in very handy later in the year when the grind fatigue kicks in.

Uk was up 14 and thought they had run out clock. refs put a second back on, aTm made a half court three to lose by 11.

The line was 13.5

Another B1G win for the Terps. Despite letting the Badgers back in it after a UVA defensive effort in the first half.

Also not a great look last night in the Duke win.

Why is that shot from a different game for Boeheim, then?

God, UVA was on fire in the first half against VT tonight. First ever top-ten matchup between the two and UVA celebrated by going 10-14 on threes in the first half to lead by 22. UVA has had a 20+ point lead in all four ACC games so far this year.

(Did I just jinx them to blow this game in the 2nd half?)

So, on Saturday I took in my first live college basketball game in a long while. Two mediocre teams (Stanford v. Arizona State) from a mediocre conference. But, ya know, the band was there, the kids were there, the players were contesting every shot and trying really hard, and we saw it from great seats.

It was a really fun time. Just thought I'd let you guys know. Go support your local team.

MI finally coming down off a ridiculous run the last two games. Ugly offense in a loss to Wisky and eking out a home win last night against the Gophers. Teams are starting to figure out how to defend them, but MI will always keep games close because their D is unshakably nasty.

Edging out is right. Scoring the last 2 you needed to win the game with .8 seconds left after giving up a 13? point lead is enough edging that you'd look like Randy Marsh afterwards

Carrier Dome is piss troughs with stainless steel communal sinks in the middle of the room that can easily be confused for piss troughs (lever you step on to turn the water on, same height as piss troughs).

Question about the Matthew McConaughey on the bench and coming onto the court for Texas. Doesn't the NCAA have rules about who can be an assistant coach and what not. I recall when Juan Dixon was working at Maryland he was expressly prohibited from sitting on the bench as a coach because of some NCAA rules.

I'll MAYBE say one of those was the right call. Have they changed the rule?
That guy is a piece of shit and he's not the only one on that team that spends every defensive possession trying to angle for a charging call. The announcing crew during the MI game last week was losing their shit over non-calls, acting like not getting a flop-charge call was the biggest injustice known to man. At one point they actually said this game was an argument in favor of not having conference referees, because they build up a book of business on a player and come in biased.

Fucking idiots.

Actually came here to post this:

https://deadspin.com/zavier-simpsons-sk ... 1832181963

One of the cool and unexpected treats of John Beilein's MI tenure is that he's rolled out absolutely sick PGs every 2 years or so... Darius Morris, Trey Burke, Derrick Walton and now X(Z)avier Simpson.

And Simpson is rounding into possibly the grittiest of the bunch. That hook shot in the lane though? Where the fuck did THAT come from?

They are good. And its all timing. Schofield and Williams are a solid 1-2 punch. But we are gonna whip their asses like they are Utah.

I watched part of the first half of that game. It was still 5-2 halfway through the first half when I realized Duke-St. Johns was on another channel. When I saw the halftime score of 20-14, I was stunned. I never would have guessed that State would actually do WORSE in the second half. Incredible.

I'm not sure how even a Wisconsin fan could root for that style of basketball. I'd rather my team actually try to play some offense instead of just trying to draw charging and blocking fouls for 40 minutes.

It turns out that when the most talented team in the country shoots 62% from three, you lose. It could have been worse.
