It's a pretty shitty state of affairs that the Republicans in the Senate are simply counting on the Supreme Court to rule this power grab unconstitutional instead of doing their fucking jobs.

Frightening really, because given the current ideological makeup, it's not impossible they sign off on it. I have doubts if Roberts will, but the precedent would be devastating.

I said it about health care... Let the President and the GOP fuck with people's insurance. Go ahead, blow up your party. And polling in the midterms shows that they fucked themselves on that issue. We saw the minority leader say what we all know this week.

Now this asshole is marching us all down a lane that is straight up fascism. If there was a way to further fuck the GOP, forcing them to back this fucking moron on an even more catastrophic issue is perfect. This one's even better for democrats, because the consequences of what he's doing don't effect millions of Americans.

Well, you know except for the whole fascism precedent... But, see, this shit is going to get thrown back at him by the SC. Or not... I guess. This is such a clear cut end around the checks and balances, I just don't see how any court will rule in his favor.

And either way, the vote on this in the Senate is going to be used non-stop if they go the wrong way next year.

He is SERIOUSLY fucking his party with this shit. And fuck them. McConnell is going to go down in history as the most disastrous majority leader in history.

I wish you were right, but he successfully stole a Supreme Court seat, effectively securing a conservative Supreme Court for at least the next decade to two decades, so I think he and his supporters will take that.

What he will go down in history as is a impotent wimp, too afraid to stand up to Trump.

But, really, what is so telling about his announcement is the fact that he KNOWS it's bullshit.

At the end of the day, he just imploded his party for a face saving gambit that is only going to fly with people that will proudly walk around with a MAGA hat.

I've been saying it for years... This shit is not sustainable.

And I guess I'll also repeat - I'm talking about what is sustainable as a national party that purports to want to govern. They are absolutely fucking themselves backing this guy. Historic losses in the mid-term are going to lead to right into an ass whooping in 2020.

And fuck Howard Schultz. But if Bill Weld follows through his primary challenge, that's a much bigger threat to Trump, because it's within the party apparatus and will drain a bigger percentage of Trump's likely voters than an independent would.

I agree with everything you said, except for not seeing how any court will rule in his favor. 5 years ago, I would have agreed, but no longer. The Roberts Court has completely ignored all precedence and logic several times (Citizens United, Hobby Lobby and an employment law case that slipped my mind), and that was before Kavanaugh joined the Court. While it hasn't been tested yet, I am very confident Kavanaugh will do everything he can to act as a Conservative activist and Trump supporter rather than act as a legit Justice. Look at the Texas District court case that rules Obamacare was Unconstitutional. That opinion went way the fuck out on a limb. Trump has already appointed a lot of judges who are political hacks, so who knows what the fuck will happen in the courts!

In saying his entire agenda was to stop any and everything Obama tried to do, in stealing a SC seat, and in hiding/obfuscating what he knows about the Russia probe and abdicating ANY oversight of the most corrupt President in our history... And now today. He is going to be pegged as the Majority Leader that not only cemented hyper partisanship, but moved past that into something more sinister.

Just think about this in a way that we look at Watergate. There are winners and losers in that tale. Think about how people are going to look at Paul Ryan and Mitch when this story gets baked down and retold.

It's not going to be pretty for the GOP. Whereas with Watergate, they eventually got behind protecting the republic, these fuckers have done everything they can to fuck shit up.

I'm not talking about how MAGA hat wearing apes are going to look at it. I'm talking about people that read books and don't view a free press as an enemy of the state.

We're in a post-history world now. 35 percent of the country doesn't care and won't ever care. The best case scenario is that 20 years from now you won't have a person in this country who admits ever voting for or supporting Trump for fear of being hooted at like a circus freak. The right has their own history books written by dimwits like Dinesh D'Souza and that ilk. To them McConnell will always be a hero.

Yep, but Obama signed that Executive Order, so he started it! It's great that Trump went on record today and said he doesn't need to do this as a national emergency. Kind of kills his entire argument. He also brags about how he has the lowest levels of illegal immigration in history and lower levels of crime at the border. Fuck, we have a negative net illegal immigration with Mexico right now. More illegals are going home than coming in from Mexico, so why is this a fucking emergency? It's all about a narcissist with the mentality of a toddler not willing to admit he couldn't do what he said he would do.

Remember that doc we were talking about in the other thread (a night at the garden)?

This stuff is cyclical. My alternate view is that the country, as a whole, is moving in a more progressive climate. And the good thing about progressives is that they will make the country better for the poor and working class, even if the latter are dragged kicking and screaming.

We've already seen it with health care. They still bitch about stupid shit, but once they get a taste of some small "s" socialism, they fucking love it. M4A polls off the charts with EVERYONE.

So, you know, fuck the MAGA hat moron brigade. We're gonna educate and support their kids/grandkids and they won't be able to do a god damn thing about it.

I wrote this song to the music of Leader Of The Band by Fogelberg. I think it's pretty good but I have to find someone to record it. It's a folksy guitar tune and doesn't sound as good on the piano. Also, I can't sing it. If I told you I could hit 3 notes in that song I'd be lying.
(Capo 1st fret)

[Intro]

G C Am Em D G C G C G C G

[Verse 1]

G Bm C
A lonely child who never smiled, a millionaire’s son
Am Em Am C D
His hands too small for anything, couldn’t even hold a gun
G Bm C
His feet suck too, and that is why, he dodged the draft that day
Am Em Am D G
And his dad made sure his coward son, could avoid a damn x-ray

[Verse 2]

G Bm C
Obnoxious man of privilege, his heart is filled with hate
Am Em Am C D
He wanted to be president, so he bought the head of state
G Bm C
He called his friends; some Russian men, to cloud our cyberspace
Am Em Am D G
It was time to make America, his racist, fascist place

[Chorus]

C Bm C G
The leader of America, is an ugly orange joke
Am Em Am C D
But he won and now we’re stuck with him, this big, fat, soulless bloke
C Bm C G
Our lives are at the mercy of, this stupid, sorry man
Am Em Am D G
So fuck you those who voted for, Totalitarian

[Verse 3]

G Bm C
So fuck the evangelicals, for serving us this shit
Am Em Am C D
Your god was brown and Jewish too, you god damn hypocrites
G Bm C
And fuck the white supremacists, and fuck your stupid wall
Am Em Am D G
That troglodyte you idolize, is gonna kill us all

[Interlude]

G C Am Em D G C G C G C G (hold)

[Verse 4]

G Bm C
I blame you for misogyny, you sick, enabling scum
Am Em Am C D
I blame you for theocracy, great leader of the dumb
G Bm C
I blame you for the ignorance in your tired Twitter rants
Am Em Am D G
I blame you and your MAGA sheep, those mindless sycophants

[Chorus]

C Bm C G
The leader of America, is an ugly orange joke
Am Em Am C D
But he won and now we’re stuck with him, this big, fat, soulless bloke
C Bm C G
Our lives are at the mercy of, this dangerous, con-man
Am Em Am D G
You got just what you signed up for, American Iran
Am Em Am D G
Fuck you to all who voted for…Totaaaaaalitaaaaaariaaaaaan

[Outro]

C G C G C Am Em D G C G (hold)

I expect the GOP gets away with everything and pardoned to boot. The bad guys always seem to fucking win. There's no "You're goddamn right I did!" (ordered the code red) moment and Justice gets served. Not with these Republicans.

Not sure why, but I always get "Leader of the Band" mixed up with "Mr. Bojangles". You should write a parody based on the latter. Gritty is in right now, might have a better chance of going big.

Now the Dems need to go out and strike back in the meme war. You can't just rely on AOC for everything. I wish there was someone in the vein of FDR with a 'fuck you' edge that would make these shit stains come unglued.

No, you roll your eyes because he is a child. You can't stoop down to his level, because he has no shame or dignity. He can always go lower, because he doesn't care about looking Presidential, he only cares about getting adulation from his cult followers. Dems aren't going to win anyone over with a sick meme burn, but they will turn people off to politics if they see both sides acting like childish internet trolls.

To the point posed in the title: No it fucking won't.

The entire article is worth reading, mind you, but this idea that history means anything in this country is fucking ridiculous. Unless we have a nationwide come to Jesus on the level of Germany after WW2, then bullshit. Doesn't mean shit.

This shit is bonkers. Asking the Acting AG to put a friendly prosecutor in place for the Cohen investigation is straight up obstruction.
So Whitaker is the latest sycophant to learn that when you lie down with dogs, you get up with fleas.

There clearly is no end of idiots willing to "jump on a grenade" for this asshole.

Regarding McCabe's new book, there's nothing hyperbolic or provocative about suggesting it's possible that Trump could be a Russian asset. Hell, it's possible anyone could be a Russian asset, but with Trump at this point, it would take a greater level of skepticism to suggest that he isn't.

I really hate that you need to overexpose yourself everywhere in order to promote your new book. This just happened with Christie last month. It's nauseating.
