So, this is pretty cool. My friend Hunter got a shout out when the president visited Korea.

A lot of it is to troll the left and the media to cause outage. And it works everytime.

If I were him and his speechwriters I'd do it too cause the supporters dont care, they still cheer. Then they get outraged about the outrage the next day. Feed the fire.

Probably belongs in the end of journalism thread, but it fits here too.

If there was a daily White House Briefing, the Trump White House would have to explain why Alex Acosta still has job, but since there isn’t, there will be no accountability and the media will move on to something else by dinner..

Trump Will “no longer deal” with the British ambassador who disparaged his administration.
International Trade Secretary Liam Fox said he would issue an apology to Ivanka Trump when the two met in Washington on Monday. (Why the British minister, whose job is to negotiate a new free-trade deal with the United States, was meeting with the president’s daughter and special adviser was not revealed).

Fox stressed that he was outraged, not at Darroch, but at the unknown leaker, whom he called an “unpatriotic” underminer of the special relationship between the United States and Britain.

Fox said he suspected that the perpetrator was either a member of the civil service or the “political class” — which did not do much to narrow the number of possible sources.
"Political class" is a great term when used by a member of the political class.

That Fox News clip of American soccer fans in France chanting "Fuck Trump!" apparently triggered Trump's Fox News Twitter rant.

You simply hate to see it.

Hilarious considering it was a live broadcast and those people clearly did not work for Fox News.

Trump literally thinks that Fox endorsed it by having it on their channel.

It's like when I was 4 years old and thought Mr. Rogers lived next to me because he always talked about being a good neighbor. This is how I know if you are going to keep supporting Trump you're worth being talked down to. If he cannot discern something this obvious, then he has a broken brain and needs professional help.

Seems like an obvious First Amendment issue, the President can't prevent Free Speech, yet the Right is going to go nuts, because they think it's unfair that Trump is treated different than ordinary citizens. They will also freak the the world is rigged against the Right, because Twitter can deplatform insane assholes spewing hate and inciting violence on their platform, but the President can't protect is eggshell ego from dissent.

The comment under that one took the words right out of my mouth (metaphorically speaking).

The most "Conservative" government we've had in my lifetime would have been to the left of Obama. Clearly, it's American definitions of "right" and "left" that are off-kilter from the rest of the Western World's definitions.

The US is unique in that it was created differently and has state laws. It's a collection of states more than a Republic.

It currently has more to protect and be conservative about. Compared to Canada, the US is protecting rights to bear arms, have private healthcare, to have the death penalty and in general, states rights. The allocation of the Senate and the Electoral College shows this. These things have already been determined federally in Canada so there is nothing to be conservative about.

I understand how it sucks for progressives to move things along against the constitution.

Isn't it? I mean some states have the death penalty and others don't. Now some backward idiotic states are trying to overturn abortion at the state level. Republican State governments can do a lot of damage.

I don't think that could happen anywhere else. Alberta can't suddenly impose the death penalty, even through proposition or plebiscite. Almost all of the political differences in Canada are fiscal and not social because that ship has sailed.

So we're at this point now:

Trump once hosted an exclusive party with Jeffrey Epstein at his Mar-a-Lago estate, a new report says. It was just the 2 of them and '28 girls.'

If this Epstein stuff doesn't take down prominent people, including Trump, then what the fuck is anything anymore?

FWIW, Bill Clinton did have a relationship with Epstein and rode on Epstein’s private plane on a number of occasions. Epstein’s co-conspirator Gislaine Maxwell, who helped him groom underage girls, was also a guest at Chelsea Clinton’s wedding. So it’s not exactly a crazy conspiracy to think that Clinton could get caught up in this.

The contrast between the quotes by Bill Clinton and Donald Trump in that New Yorker story is startling. Maybe not a crazy conspiracy, but at least he has a better cover story. And yes, I don't give a shit who goes down for rape as long as they go down for rape.

Yeah, I think that in multiple respects having someone as bad as Trump as President has dramatically illustrated the shortcomings of Pelosi’s generation of Democrats. Pelosi is enraged by AOC because the entire idea of politics as a moral pursuit, as opposed to a transactional one, is completely foreign to her. Pelosi has also always viewed her role as restraining the Democratic party’s more aggressive elements. That’s why Pelosi will NEVER initiate impeachment proceedings, regardless of the composition of the Senate and regardless of what Trump does. By definition, impeachment is a maximalist position for the House to take. And for that reason, even if impeachment is completely justified, or even morally compelled, Pelosi will not do it. Because her entire political worldview is that if the Democrats ever take maximalist positions, the ghost of Ronald Reagan will resurrect himself and smite them all down.

There's absolutely a generational thing here with her personality/position type. I see her same dismissiveness "quality" in so many people I've called "boss" since being in the military.

When I was a younger dude learning about the world and the military, I would see irregularities. I'd call it out and get the condescending verbal headpat with a side of Daenerys face. I'd be told to "stay in my lane," "don't rock the boat," and to "pick my battles." Then as I get older these same types haven't moved from their perch, but I'd gain rank and the same would happen again. Now I'm a couple years from retirement (thank fucking Christ) and it's still the fucking same.

Basically, I've never been "old enough" to have merit and agency within my workcenter -- but I'm the backbone of the Air Force and need to fight for my troops. How can both of these situations exist? How the fuck is that even possible? Well, it's because once the olds retire, they get a job as civilians doing the exact same thing. Now they collect two checks and are shielded from milliary interference. HR has their back. It literally takes people dying for people like me to feel like there's no monkey on my back. Huh, no wonder I have so much anxiety.

Hmmm, maybe the problem isn't the battles I pick, it's that you want to remain comfortable with the status quo that positively benefits you! And for Pelosi, an ultra rich white person whose life isn't affected in any meaningful way no matter how obviously atrocious day to day life is for so many, it's a default character trait. AOC poses a far greater threat to her existence than Trump. Interesting!

So that's why folks like AOC or Ilhan Omar are so revelatory to me. They're in the position to directly combat this bullshit and push the older generation into a proverbial retirement home. Something my generation has been marginalized on since always.
