Pelosi and Schumer are just holding on to their position and make their millions. Dont want to rock the boat like the brave 4 congresswomen are.

These right-wing turds using "Democrat" Party instead of Democratic Party will never not make me laugh.

Al Green (not that Al Green) is reading articles of impeachment against Trump on the House floor now if you have C-SPAN.
(Sadly, this is probably about as close as we're gonna get to an actual impeachment proceeding against Trump, at least for the immediate future.)

(I think one underrated aspect of this vote as more than purely ceremonial is that it's likely to set off a Twitter shitstorm from Trump, which in my opinion is rarely a bad thing. It's not gonna change too many minds either way, but there's always a chance we get an n-bomb one of these days.)

Ok, I was definitely too harsh on Swalwell in the other thread. This is some really good stuff by him.

Yeah, I didn't want to get into it, but Swalwell is REALLY good when he's on MSNBC and CNN taking shots at Trump. He's just better off doing that than trying to be the 19th ranked presidential candidate.
The fact that more people are aware of him will help in the long run.

Re: Trump Admin Meltdown Thread Part III - A Democratic House
I think he's really just trying to position himself to run for Feinstein's Senate seat in 2024 or in the special election after she dies and figured whatever notoriety he could get is a good thing. Probably smart, if true.Nonlinear FC wrote: ↑Wed Jul 17, 2019 9:28 amYeah, I didn't want to get into it, but Swalwell is REALLY good when he's on MSNBC and CNN taking shots at Trump. From today's Guardian:
Donald Trump’s approval rating with Republicans rose in a USA Today/Ipsos poll conducted entirely after his racist tweets on Sunday attacking four Democratic congresswomen of color.
Trump’s net approval with Republicans in the new poll rose 5 percentage points, to 72%, from a similar poll conducted last week.

He's taking a very large hit with Independents. This says a lot about racist republicans, it doesn't say a lot about the overall electorate (or the signs are positive on that front.Pruitt wrote: ↑Wed Jul 17, 2019 12:23 pm From today's Guardian:

So am I dumbing it down too much to postulate that with all the child-fucking nearby to these people that overt racism is a preferential way to steer the conversation?Pruitt wrote: ↑Wed Jul 17, 2019 12:23 pm From today's Guardian:

Re: Trump Admin Meltdown Thread Part III - A Democratic House
Also 72 percent within the GOP is NOT a good number. That's gonna have to be up closer to at least 80 percent if not 85 percent for him to have a chance to get re-elected.

Re: Trump Admin Meltdown Thread Part III - A Democratic House
Eh, that's like asking what percentage of people already shit today. 72% definitely did and then another something percent did but felt weird admitting it.
Re: Trump Admin Meltdown Thread Part III - A Democratic House
Also, I looked at the underlying data and “net approval rating” means the delta between those that approve and those that do not. The results show that 86% of Republicans approve of Trump and 14% disapprove or have mixed feelings. The 72 figure is 86-14.
Re: Trump Admin Meltdown Thread Part III - A Democratic House
That makes more sense based on what I've seen of his previous polling (and is scary as shit).

Re: Trump Admin Meltdown Thread Part III - A Democratic House
Isn't that partly attributed to the fact that GOP membership is way down DUE to Trump, that only Trumpheads remain? Or them being old and dying, and the younger generations aren't catching up. I can't imagine many people under 30 or so who are GOP but are anti-Trump.

Re: Trump Admin Meltdown Thread Part III - A Democratic House
I wouldn't put too much stock into short-term polling jumps as there's usually a "circle the wagons" mentality when stuff like this happens. The longer term polling shows that while Trump is very popular with GOP voters, he's not really more popular than any GOP presidents of the last half-century and in fact is at the lower end of that range when you look at polling over the entire term versus those guys in their first term.
That's another Trump lie -- that's he's the most popular GOP president ever or whatever nonsense he says. The argument that he should really be less popular is valid, but it's not like he's some juggernaut and isn't subject to the same vulnerabilities as any other politician ever.

it's all about turnout. It could be 80% of this or 70% of that but 100% of 0 is 0.

Did you see that ludicrous display last night?
Re: Trump Admin Meltdown Thread Part III - A Democratic House
The racist tweet story is distracting from the new footage showing Trump hanging out with Epstein. I always wonder if these tweets are timed or impulsive because he saw something on tv. I'm sure someone at NBC gave him a heads up this was coming out.
Re: Trump Admin Meltdown Thread Part III - A Democratic House
I think assuming anything like that gives Trump way too much credit. He's just an angry Fox News grandpa and if he sees stuff on there that pisses him off, he tweets about it.

Re: Trump Admin Meltdown Thread Part III - A Democratic House
Watching "highlights" of Trump's campaign rally tonight. They got a chant of "Send her back! Send her back!" about Omar. He then says she makes anti-Semitic attacks, which I'm guessing caused a few Trumpies to pause before responding --"wait, is that good or bad?"
Watching this rally is really scary.

The thing is... Doubling down like this... He's really forcing a lot of people to back a blatant racist.
That's not going to work. It's not sustainable. You guys give me shit for this, but I was right about the backlash in 2018, and he's going to get lit up in 2020 running as a White Supremacist.
There are a lot of racists in this country. There aren't enough to win national elections. Not even close.
