LOL to this too. Come on man. People in media jobs love to gossip and talk. The thought that a former staffer(s) at a major news network like CNN wouldn't go speak with someone about a coordinated effort to make a candidate look bad is insane. if this was a thing it'd already be a public thing -- just look at all the stories about what goes on behind the scenes at Fox News.

Exactly. The thing to keep in mind is that there is no such person called "CNN". There's hundreds of reporters, producers, camerapersons, editors, etc. I guess anything is possible, but I have a hard time imagining that somehow the higher-ups were involved in the color tint on the broadcast of an on-the-street interview.
And his one problem is he didn’t go to Russia that night because he had extracurricular activities, and they froze to death.

I'm not sure who suggested they were? That's why the word conspiracy is dumb but thinking of it as a corporate bias is not.

So you're saying that you didn't watch the video that JoeK posted because that's exactly what is shown in that ad, and that's in the coverage or opinion that's forwarded by the network. The color change probably isn't part of some huge conspiracy, but it's not exactly on the up and up...you know people broadcasting typically notice colors being off, the camera being out of focus, and work to adjust those.
Did you see that ludicrous display last night?

I guess we're just gonna ignore/forget that magazine covers routinely shade things certain ways to play into biases and shit? Like when Time's cover of OJ being acquitted didn't use extra dark tones to make him look "blacker" than he is?

I'm not a Bernie guy (chronicled on here a bunch), but it doesn't take a vast center left conspiracy for a producer or news editor to tell the production team to shade him a certain way. Or to put up unflattering images to tee up stories with corresponding "is he too OLD??!!" themes.

If you guys don't think this happens all the time, we're on a different planet. They do it with Trump EVERY DAY. They put up unflattering/unhinged images, they play up the weird orangeness, etc etc.

I guess I was assuming that when someone says "CNN hates Bernie" they'd have to be talking about people in management. I don't know why some schlub working in the production truck (or whatever) would hate Bernie.

There are absolutely editorial meetings and discussions about the "angle" and tone they want to take on certain subjects and certain people. 100 percent. That's not a conspiracy, that's just how news organizations operate. How people take that direction and run with things is, obviously, open to their interpretation.

a campaign ad with spliced footage of people on multiple cable networks saying not-positive things is not proof of anything. anyone running for president can make the same claims in the same way.

Complete garbage from the WaPost quoting a Jerry Sandusky truther for a negative piece on Warren. It definitely seems like there’s been more anti-Warren sentiment lately from the establishment press, which is predictable now that she’s perceived as a favorite to get the nomination. If Biden continues to struggle expect a desperate centrist push to try to make Kamala Harris or Buttigieg happen.

It’s whether the Democratic donor class will try to actively sabotage a progressive nominee like Warren or Sanders. Put differently, we should be a lot more concerned about Bloomberg Bros than Bernie Bros.

Bloomberg running doesn't really concern me as I don't think there's a huge market (no pun intended) for a billionaire centrist given the state of the country. If anything, it provides a convenient foil for Warren or Sanders to point out that the billionaire class is more concerned with preserving their wealth even at the expense of re-electing Trump.

I'm more interested if Amash runs for president on the Libertarian ticket. If he does, I suspect he'll draw much more support than Johnson did in 2016 and further handicap Trump's chances.

Man oh manischewitz - Bloomberg must be delusional.

77 years old and clearly Jewish - who the hell is voting for him as an alternative to the 76 year old non-Jewish centrist?

Bloomberg has no chance to win and he knows it. At best his goal is to scare the Democratic Party into throwing Warren under the bus. At worst, his goal is to tilt the election from Warren to Trump.

Based on what I'm reading online, it looks like the debate moderators asked the candidates to talk about their Republican friends, but not about China or climate change? Some hard-hitting journalism there.

Its amazing to me how the Presidential process is so long and has so many debates yet the format is never correct or fair.

You guys need an election tribunal like in Canada. Last week here the English debate was a little disorganized but the French debate was amazing.

Not sure this affects the dynamics of the race too much.
Bernie’s already doing very well with young voters
and struggling with older voters. But getting endorsements from three of the highest profile minority Congresswomen should at least kill the “Bernie Bro” sexism myth off for good.

There were all of maybe two people who didn’t know AOC was gonna endorse Bernie. It certainly doesn’t hurt him but doubt it matters much overall. He’ll win or lose on policy, not endorsements.

The timing of the announcement probably had to be moved up from late January to staunch the bleeding.

From what I'm gauging of online commentary, CNN is forcing Klobuchar down our throats. She had the third most speaking time behind Warren and Biden. Not surprised because it's her at all because a few weeks ago on Bill Maher said that at a brokered convention they need a centrist Democrat and he was "looking hard at Klobuchar."

One thing is for certain, 12 people is too fucking many.

It’s predictable that the networks would try to push another moderate with Biden struggling. But what exactly is Klobuchar’s constituency? She lost me once I saw the reports that it’s an open secret that she’s one of the worst bosses in DC. Anyone who treats subordinates like shit doesn’t have much respect from me.

My sister who works for Senator Hirono says (so it's all hearsay!) that Klobuchar is hated by her staff, and by other Democratic Senators.

She also says that everyone in her office HATES Tulsi Gabbard.

I completely believe it about Gabbard. She's a Major in the Army. Majors are, by the largest margin, the worst fucking people in the military -- especially in a deployed environment and double especially if they have to distinguish themselves for Lieutenant Colonel. The level of entitlement with that rank is off the charts.

The only cool Majors I've ever met are the ones who are not making Lieutenant Colonel. They are typically the most laid back and chill ones to work for. The "up or out" system passed them over and, when you do the math, their retirement is enough, so they're like "Whatever, man."

Hillary Clinton thinks that Russia is going to back Tulsi Gabbard as a 3rd party candidate. Which, in this timeline, doesn't surprise me, but in a better timeline would make me go "WTF? Fucking majors, man."
