for something that would hardly rate on the current president crazy scale too

the attention given to the Biden clip today -- which is not great! this is not a condoning -- is the perfect example of how skewed the "norms" are for the current guy and everyone else

I think “any one of them who doesn’t vote for me isn’t a real Jew” from Trump would get the same level of attention but probably with even more party loyalists telling offended Jewish people it’s not actually a big deal. Agreed he wouldn’t get the bonus points that come from having staff successfully appeal for an apology.

It's absolutely skewed because of the voting base. The Republican voting base does not care.

Do enough black voters care about what happened today? Are Democrat voters upset? If the editorials make a big deal out of this then it's basically Al Frankin again.

Well, we have a Prime Minister who can't stop apologizing.

are you forgetting that Trump told Jewish people they had "no choice" but to vote for him in December or trying to be subtle and indirectly use the fact that most everyone's forgotten about that already because, you know, the standards are so way skewed at this point?

Do you believe standards or morals are a bar meant to be lowered by your opposition? Like “grab her by the tits” would be technically ok because it’s less rapey? Stop fucking excusing the inexcusable because “heh heh well relatively speaking atleast it’s not the most inexcusable”.

Like maybe just get back to unqualified standards. If Biden says “goddamn negros” next week don’t tell me how the Apprentice tapes probably have the n-word on them.

Putting aside Biden’s “joke” about who’s “really black,” how about the fact that he flat out lied in that same interview when he said that he’s been endorsed by the NAACP in every race he’s run? In fact, the NAACP doesn’t issue endorsements so Biden just completely made that up.

I'm voting for Biden because he's leagues better than Trump, but it is fun watching liberals twist themselves into pretzels when their favored politicians do dumb shit and excuse it away while they decry the opposition politician's people doing the same thing.

Sure, it's of things of different magnitudes, but the sentiment is the same.

Anyhoo, Charlamagne shared Ari Melber's commentary:

No one is saying to vote for Trump — and frankly, it’s not affluent white guys like those of us who post on this board for whom Biden’s comments will be an issue. But I just thought those of you rushing to praise Biden for apologizing might be interested in the fact that he hasn’t apologized for arguably the worst part of his remarks. Then again, Biden has a demonstrated pattern, going back over 30 years, of shamelessly lying about himself when challenged during campaigns.

The most ironic recent example of this was Biden supporters jumping on the reports that Tara Reade exaggerated her academic credentials as proof she’s lying about the assault allegations. Who could possible trust someone who would do such a thing? Personally I’m going to trust the guy with three undergraduate degrees that graduated from the top half of Syracuse law school, where he was on a full academic scholarship.

Is it supposed to be black people that care? Gerald Griggs is a local criminal attorney in DeKalb and gets defense cases and brutality cases from the NAACP. He's pointing out a 501c3 issue lest the Trump IRS take note.

Okay, but here's a statement put out by the national organization about the endorsement lie:

And here's an interview with its President:

Every single naacp everywhere will endorse Biden except they can't by federal law. So they won't. NAACP is a relic and not relevant to 99% of 2020 black people. The do send lawyers cases though and I thank them until the leaders fight amongst themselves over anything resembling power or money.

how did "get the same level of attention" turn into "excusing the inexcusable?"

and to be clear, I was referring to the standards of attention -- because that was the topic -- and not the moral standards. I effing said it wasn't condonable, so don't go there.

I know I said I'm not going to believe anything until it happens, but the mere mention of The Klob as Veep makes me get a vomit taste in my mouth. And I agree with Charlamagne here:

Klob is a Karen. She looks like one and she acts like one. The world needs less Karens.

If she ultimately gets selected, I'm gonna laugh because white liberals will out-woke themselves telling black people what's good for them.

“Should” being the operative word. But then again Biden is reportedly getting advice on VP selection from Rahm Emanuel, who tried to cover up the Laquan McDonald murder.

Not sure even Rahm can sweep the aftermath of this latest murder away - nor the shitty response to the peaceful protests to it in Minneapolis. That stain reaches Klobuchar too.

For reference...

Klobuchar also called for a “complete and thorough outside investigation into what occurred, and those involved in this incident must be held accountable.” However, this is unlikely to occur, in no small part because of Klobuchar herself and the precedent she set while serving as the state’s chief prosecutor between 1999 and 2007. In that time, she declined to bring charges against more than two dozen officers who had killed citizens while on duty – including against Chauvin himself, who shot and killed Wayne Reyes in 2006 and would later go on to shoot more civilians while in uniform.

The Floyd killing is particularly egregious, and the video is repulsive, which might lead to this affecting Klobuchar’s chances. But I wouldn’t assume as much. The coalition that Biden is focusing on — suburbanites and senior citizens — is pretty reliably pro-police. I moved to St. Louis right when the Ferguson protests were starting and based on what I’ve seen here since then, I bet there are huge differences in public opinion among white voters based on urban/suburban and young/old splits.

Am I missing some connection to Klobuchar other than this happened in the state she is from? We can't pin an event and subsequent municipal or state government response to the Federal Senator from that state. Unless I missed Klobuchar coming out defending the officers...

Sure Klobuchar’s treatment of staff and the new revelations she declined to indict a cop who killed a guy then went on to shoot other guys then killed another guy looks bad but are you all going to ignore that she’s better than Donald Trump? Blue No Matter Who baby and that means we don’t make negative comments about any establishment Dems who might be chosen.

I don't think your point works here. If it were her against Trump, yes. But her with Biden is a potential drag and weight against goal of getting rid of Trump - especially with this particular set of problems...
