This quote from HRC’s spokesmen sure makes it seem like she was quoted accurately and then walked it back after getting so much negative reaction. Using the phrase “nesting doll” is a clear reference to Russia.

Why would the NYT admit misquoting her then?

Here’s the full transcript. It’s perhaps ambiguous as to who is “grooming” Gabbard but immediately after that, Clinton called her “the favorite of the Russians” and says that they are supporting her. She then says Stein is also a Russian asset. Using the word “also” there could clearly be read as saying that Gabbard is an asset too.

Like Romero alludes to, not even sure if what the NYT is trying to do there when the transcript and recording of the podcast itself makes it very, very clear what Clinton is saying.

Gabbard announces she's not going to run for her House seat, probably to avoid the indignity of losing a primary. Sounds like she's being groomed by (something) for a third-party run.

Yeah, all this back and forth about HRC is immaterial to the larger point.

She's a piece of shit if she runs 3rd party.

The very fact that she would appear on Hannity and talk shit about Democrats should be the nail in her coffin as far as any progressives touting her as some sort of viable alternative to anyone in the race.

Hillary's gonna be right about Gabbard just like she was right about everything in 2016 and I'm sorry if that drives you haters nuts, but it's not really her fault this is a racist, misogynistic country.

Frankly, the fact that so many so called "progressives" go out of their way to take swipes really just proves the point.

Centrist Democrats are basically diet Republicans.

If you don't like "progressives" because we call out the bullshit from assholes in its own party and want actual progress, that's a you issue.

It is completely in character for know-it-all Democrats to come off the top rope and act like they're so superior when they fucking lost to Donald Trump.

Sorry not sorry I don't drop to my knees to worship the Godqueen.

Besides thinking that it more important to expend resources in Phoenix and LA than in Milwaukee, and that it was a good electoral strategy to woo Republicans, Hillary was right about everything in 2016! Everyone knew that Trump is a terrible person, so let’s not act like Hillary was uniquely prescient.

The fact is a lot of people who should have knew better were convinced Trump would somehow grow into the job of president. And I'm not ONLY talking about Trump's fitness for office. She blew the whistle on his relationships with Putin, Erdogan, et al and was treated like a shrill harpy for it.

Scoring points on Hillary Clinton in 2019 is a ridiculous waste of time, energy and resources and yet there's two groups of people in this country who make it their life's mission for some reason -- Republicans and Bernie dead-enders.

I think it's a waste if time by her to continue coming back with sarcastic "but her emails" tweets, responding to "Hilary was right" tweets, etc. She's not convincing anyone, she's just making herself exhibit all the symptoms of being a sore loser. Those who agree with her agree with her, those who don't, don't.

She believes she was screwed (whether or not I agree is pretty irrelevant). We all know this. Reminders of it are not serving any purpose because they don't turn back the clock, fix any of it, etc.

The right looks more ridiculous invoking her as their proxy lib villain if she just disappears. Her reemergences validate their strategy and give them ammo, no matter the substance. And there's like no upside for dems whenever she has to make herself heard.

Or, something somebody would say who was born in 1970 (but that is hilarious in its smugness).

I mean, whatever. Johnnie's all hot cuz I ride him for not giving a crap if people don't come out in '20 to vote if they feel it's just Democrats rigging the system for some centrist. Which is a flat-out embarrassing position to maintain considering the damage Trump has done to the United States' place in the world.

I think there's plenty to worry about on both sides.

ETA: Manchin obviously sucks, but someone show me this progressive unicorn candidate who is going to be elected to statewide office in West Motherfucking Virginia. I'd still rather have a tool like Manchin who votes with the Dems 75 percent of the time than a MAGA turd who votes with Trump 100 percent of the time. Those are basically the only two options in WV as it stands right now for those who live in the real world.

Unlike Manchin, who holds almost literally zero sway with the party rank and file there is the real potential for some nasty internecine squabbling in the next few months from the extreme left. I think most of that has been overblown to date and the truth is most everyone has been on their best behavior for the most part, minor quibbles aside, but everyone needs to keep their eye on the ball for the next 12 months.

In a legislative body run by the GOP.

IF the Dems somehow take back the Senate and IF they somehow don't fuck it up and manage to beat Trump and IF Manchin is then voting with the GOP to block bills that would actually help solve climate change, etc. then sure -- pull his committee assignments and make him choose once and for all. If all of those things happen, worrying about what the fuck Joe Manchin thinks about anything would be a nut-bustingly lovely predicament to be in compared to right now.

Again, you're spinning your wheels here. In this magical, fantasy world you've concocted where some Bernie clone runs for the Senate in WV instead of Manchin, he loses by 30 points to Cunningham.
