I think a NE CB would need to literally kill a guy to have the refs call PI on them.

That said this Kirk Cousins signing is going to be legendary for its stupidity. Dude has 40 attempts for 180 yards. It’s pathetic.

Packers fire Mike McCarthy.

Re: NFL 2018 - Week 13
You don’t think a guy with a 32-35-1 record as a starter is worth a megadeal?
I know QB wins are overused but it sure seems like Cousins comes up small almost every time he faces a good opponent.

Tony Dungy was outraged (in a quiet way) basically saying that you should never fire a Super Bowl winning coach. Pan to Rodney Harrison who pointed out that no one on the Packers was playing like they gave a shit.

I’ve made a litany of incorrect opinions on many numbers of things, but calling Antonio Brown “merely a stat-compiler” has to rank as among my worst.
My avatar corresponds on my place in the Swamp posting list with the all-time Home Run list. Number 45 is Paul Konerko with 439.
Re: NFL 2018 - Week 13
Read a good Athletic story recently that stated he is superb at executing a play when everything around him goes to plan. But he had trouble when improvisation was called for.

They should have resigned Keenum. Paying millions more for basically the same dude.
Did you see that ludicrous display last night?
Re: NFL 2018 - Week 13
I'm not usually a blame the refs guy. Because shit happens, and usually it smears both teams over the course of a game, and hey fuck the refs just make a play (maybe keep an eye on Keenan Allen) and win despite them. But the Chargers got two long TDs last night on plays where the refs missed calls that should have nullified the scoring play. Pretty bad, especially when Al seemed to be talking up that officiating crew at one point by pointing out that it was their 4th SNF game this season.

I mean, you are ignoring the new NFL rule that tackles can move one second before the ball is snapped, though...rass wrote: ↑Mon Dec 03, 2018 7:29 am I'm not usually a blame the refs guy. (It occures to me that you are talking about more egregious movements than I am thinking of having now seen the play in that game - which also let the chargers score on the Browns earlier this season)

Agreed there has been drift in it being called. And, as you all know, I am no big fan of the Steelers, but holy fuck, the Chargers right tackle was at least a full beat ahead of the snap on his backward movement on the first long TD for the Chargers.

Did somone on the Steelers side of the ball involved in defensive play-calling/scheme have Keenan Allen on their fantasy team, by chance?

Pretty shocking that, any time there is a microphone in front of a coach-turned-talking head, the coach is never to blame for whatever the problem is (Jeff Van Gundy is also excellent at this).

Re: NFL 2018 - Week 13
I don't think Haden was offsides on the first field goal attempt either but I mean, just score once and you win. I can't get too angry blaming refs here.
Also, the Texans looked a lot less fraudulent yesterday. It's almost like they were slumping for a month and a half and just happened to win some of the games during said slump. They could certainly be trouble for NE or KC in the playoffs...particularly NE, whom they always seem to play well.
And thirdly, Josh Allen looked like a real actual NFL QB yesterday. I didn't think he would look that good in a full game this year. Good for him. He was still oblivious to pressure and got away with a few passes he maybe shouldn't have gotten away with, and the Dolphins kept rushing him like he wouldn't juke the defender and run for 20 yards no matter how many data points to the contrary that they had, but he made a lot of really, really good sustainable throws yesterday.

A bad loss for Bills fans, but Allen did show everything we needed to see yesterday in terms of potential. Give him a couple of average receivers and he could be really good.

Who buys a Pouncey jersey?

That guy is probably related to the Browns fan who bought a Ryan Pontbriand jersey (the Browns former long snapper).

Steelers first rounders typically sell a ton of jerseys, particularly linemen. Because we all think we're tough OL type people or whatever dumb shit it is.

In Buffalo the (bad) QB is king. You still see the occasional Edwards or Losman shirt.

I like how Sanchez simply being in the game makes him the #1 trend on Twitter. The people know his entertainment value.

I’m at the point where I hope a Washington QB breaks a leg every week until they’re forced to sign Kaepernick

A couple weeks ago at PFT:
Even more reason for a Washington QB to get injured every week, just to see who turns up as bottom of the barrel continues to be scraped.Another source tells PFT that team president Bruce Allen previously has made clear within the organization his position that Kaepernick won’t be signed by Washington, ever. Allen is a political conservative, which would make Kaepernick and his habit of protesting during the national anthem something that Allen wouldn’t be inclined to embrace, ever.
