I'm taking the over for the Orioles. No more Showalter and I think the Sox and Yankees don't win as much against them. Orioles had 2 100 teams and a 90 win team in their division. Last year was the perfect combo of a team falling part in a strong division....and the Blue Jays.

Yes, you did.

I am curious to know how many teams have failed to score a run in innings 1-9 of their first three games, yet won a game. This offensive machine has 11 hits in those three games.

And again, they did peak early.

Bryce Harper launched a shot into the upper deck in right-centerfield yesterday for a team other than the New York Yankees.

Just stupid.

7-5 O’s. Took 2/3 in Yankee Stadium. I’ll take a series win over the NYY anytime.

Why are the Pirates not bunting to him?

Good article on the decision to pull Hess

Also watching highlights of the game 2 things popped in my head
1.) I like that in Toronto one of the very visible ads near home plate is "American Standard". First "American" in Canada, Second....does that make where the Blue Jays play a toilet bowl?
2.) Whenever I think of the Toronto Blue Jays the first thing I think of is "Cito Sucks"

He pitched on opening day in relief and threw 42 pitches. He was pitching last night on three days rest and came out at 82. I gotta give Hyde a lot of credit, it is nice seeing a manager with a plan. And, whatever else is happening in Baltimore now, the front office and the on-field coaches are in sync and appear to have a plan.

until they go on their usual ridiculous losing streak....to be honest this year they just need to be good enough that the fans show up. Camden has been a ghost town in the summer when the O's are way out of contention (except for the big givewaways)

My gut says Harper. My brain says they should've signed Machado and told him to stick a sock in it about playing SS. He'd have been their 3B for the next decade.

They are gonna lose 100. But as long as I keep seeing this kind of care from management and an adherence to a plan while they start to work the kids in, it’s positive.

Holy Hell no wonder Harper left.

12 years for $250 million, according to one person with direct knowledge of the terms. Much like the proposal they made to Harper before the season ended, some of the money was deferred. The last payment from this contract, according to the person, would have come in 2072.

The deferrals lessened the net present value of the contract considerably, although the Nationals and Boras’s team differ in their calculations. Boras’s team told Harper that, using a 6 percent discount rate, the new contract offer was worth just more than $107 million.

“I got that offer, and I kind of was like, ‘Dang,’” [Harper] said."

I guess they weren't counting on the guy with a GED to grasp the basic concept of time value of money in the slightest.

Let the record show, and I know it was for different reasons, but having to get a GED for whatever reason isn't a source or shame. My uncle had some bad health issues (some self-inflicted) and dropped out, but seeing how much he appreciated the GED program when he went back and finished was pretty cool.

Sorry to have been insensitive.

I didn't take it that way, but I could see how someone might.

For whatever it's worth, Harper has spent more time in college than probably about 50 percent of major leaguers at least.

I ask, because if it's a screwball, why wouldn't you just call it a screwball, which is an awesome thing to say.
