So unfortunately an up-and-down Burlington season comes to an abrupt end as they shockingly go down to Regina in four games.

Hopefully Holland will fare better and get us at least one Swamp team in the World Series...

I'm going to demand that the team cut my salary to $40,000 a season. It's about what I seem to be worth.

HOLLAND vs. FRESNO - CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES GAME 4

Rams Fanny Blasts Business Horses, Oats Take Game 5, 7-6
When the games really matter, the Holland Oats put on their best show, beating the Fresno Business Horses by a final score of 7-6 today. Rams Fanny earned player of the game honors, as he was 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Holland now leads Fresno 3-2 in the best-of-7 affair.

mister d, the Holland left fielder, contributed a 2-run double in the bottom of the ninth inning to make the score 7-6, Oats. For the game, mister d went 1 for 5 with a double. He drove in 2 runs.

"I like the grit of this ballclub," Rams Fanny said.

Game 6 is set to be played Monday, October 21st, 2019. The scheduled starters for the game are Moreta for Holland and Dane Bouman for Fresno.

Mister D's paragraph really flatters him.

It should be, "mister d, the Holland left fielder, contributed a 2-run double in the bottom of the ninth inning to make the score 7-6, his only fucking hit of the game"

SS Henry, Business Horses Destroy Oats 14-3 to Force Game 7
The Fresno Business Horses and the Holland Oats will take the League Championship Series to a decisive 7th game. In a must-win situation today, the Business Horses beat the Oats 14-3 at Business Horse Stadium to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. Fresno shortstop Matt Henry was named player of the game in the win after he was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 4.

Jose Perez chipped in for Fresno with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the left fielder had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 3 runs scored, and 2 runs batted in.

"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said Fresno manager John Jacobi.

Game 7 is scheduled for tomorrow. The scheduled starters for the game are degenerasian for the Holland Oats and Usami Yasuda for the the Fresno Business Horses.

League Championship Series Goes the Distance, Fresno Prevails
The Fresno Business Horses are off to the World Series after an exciting League Championship Series triumph.

Fresno downed the Holland Oats, but needed the entire series to do so, with a 5-1 win tonight at Business Horse Stadium wrapping up the series 4-3.

"It's every guy in this room that made this happen. Without us all pulling in the same direction, we don't win this series," said Tyler Hodgson, who earned MVP honors for a standout offensive series.

Hodgson put up a .360 with a .484 on-base percentage in the series. He also had 2 home runs, drove in 9 runs and scored 6 runs himself.

The Fresno Business Horses will play against the Regina Monologues in the next round. Regina won their series against the Burlington Sports Frogs 4 games to 0. The World Series schedule will be announced after the League Championship Series finishes.

So unfortunately the Oats were unable to close the deal after a 3-2 series lead, bringing the Swamp teams' season to an end. Fresno moves on to face Regina in the SBL World Series.

Thanks again guys for following and your continued interest. I'll simulate the rest of the playoffs over the weekend and have the awards polls and postseason business up next week.

Might put up a small fun thing at the beginning of next week to go along with this, as consolation for not getting farther in the playoffs this year.

Alright, time for the annual awards:

-For Burlington, the Unknown Award for team MVP went to Gunpowder, who edged out wlu_lax despite the latter's better advanced stats. Take that, nerds!

-Over in Holland, P.D.X. won by a comfortable margin after a breakout season saw him put up excellent stats across the board. (By the way, good to see PDX pop up for a few random posts in the last week, so it doesn't look awkward giving him this award if he had ghosted us.)

-The only other hardware picked up by Swamp players this season were Silver Slugger awards going to wlu_lax and BSF21 at their respective positions. Congratulations!

-wlu_lax and Gunpowder's excellent seasons weren't quite enough to get them into the top three for the Bensell Conference MVP, which went to Brad "Chuckwagon" Barger of Newark.

-The Shrew Conference MVP went to Ernesto "Slim" Gonzalez of Fort Myers, with PDX taking third place.

Here's how the final votes broke out, for reference:

Here are our owners' post-season reviews. First, Burlington's John Pagel:
I have reviewed the goals I have set out for you. My comments are below.

Team Record:
I told you before the season to win it all, and you at least made a strong push towards it. I am a little disappointed, and I know I push hard, but only because I know this team has the talent to make it that last step.

Upgrade a position:
Bringing in EnochRoot has definitely solidified our Center Field, even if he's not quite a top-6 player like I had hoped for.

Long Term:
You made the playoffs. I had set out a longer vision to bring a championship to Burlington by 2023, and that time isn't up yet. You do know it's been 2 years since this franchise has won? Just make sure we don't go too long before the next championship.

I am happy with your performance in accomplishing the goals I have given you. I feel similarly about your handling of the team's on-field and front office management.

Next year is a new year, though. Here's what I'd like to see you accomplish going forward:

Win the Championship
Upgrade at Third Base
Have a final total balance of $18,000,000
Build a team that can bring a championship home in the next 4 seasons (issued 2017)

And now for Holland's Guillermo Davila:
I have reviewed the goals I have set out for you. My comments are below.

Team Record:
I'm thrilled you were able to meet our goal of getting the team to the playoffs. I always believe you were up for the challenge. I can't wait for next year.

Upgrade a position:
From my vantage point, I don't see the upgrade I asked of you at Shortstop. Our team isn't ranked any higher there than we were in 2018.

Acquire a player:
I appreciate that you tried to find a Nationally popular player to satisfy my demands, but I really don't think L-Jam fits the bill. I know my requests may seem random at times, but I would still like for you to try harder. I'd have to squint really hard to even consider L-Jam a pass for this request.

Increase Attendance:
Attendance is looking great. I'm seeing a lot of smiling families at the park this year. Keep up the good work!

Increase Profit:
Fiscal management is important in a General Manager, and you seem to have a very good acumen for it. Well done at getting the team's books in order, and ending with the profits I asked of you.

Long Term:
I can't be too upset at a playoff team, however I still am hoping for more out of these Holland Oats. Last year, I gave you the task of eventually building this team into a solid contender for the championships. I know anything can happen in the playoffs, I would encourage you in the next few seasons to truly dig through the team, and figure out what that missing piece is that can get this team to the finals and maybe even win a championship.

I am ecstatic with your performance in accomplishing the goals I have given you. That being said, what I ask of you is not the only thing to evaluate you on. I am still happy with your performance but would like to see more from the team.

Next year is a new year, though. Here's what I'd like to see you accomplish going forward:

Reach the Playoffs
Upgrade at Shortstop
Acquire a Nationally popular player
Have a final total balance of $14,500,000
Reach the World Series in the next 3 seasons (issued 2018)
