I think a coach like Popovich would’ve found an alternative.

Is that the first Game 7 buzzer beater (i.e. with 0.0 left) in NBA history? I know it’s happened in Game 5 of a best-of-5 (MJ, Allan Houston), but not sure it has in a Game 7.

ETA: It is. And apparently Allan Houston’s wasn’t quite at the buzzer.

I think both the East and West Finals will be over in 5 games. Coming into the playoffs I thought Toronto could beat Milwaukee but based on how they’ve played this postseason I now expect the Bucks to smash them. And Portland is a fun team but an easy matchup for the Warriors. They might as well keep Durant and Cousins out for the whole series and rest them up for the Finals.

My favorite part is the reminder that some people will buy those tickets and still have to look at a giant TV hanging from the ceiling for any fun part of the game

I think that one photo in particular captures more people and reactions than some of the others.

However, there were a few other still frames from that moment that merit a Pulitzer.

My quick search of Twitter photos:

I was watching Simmons and Rusillo watch the Lottery.

Seeing Simmons have a best heart attack/conniption fit when the Lakers jumped was great.

Man, the Pelicans got hooked up. Either Davis stays now and they build around a terrifying Davis-Zion frontline or they get a haul for Davis in a trade and use that to build around Zion.

Celts trade Tatum and more for Anthony Davis. Kyrie signs with New Orleans. Maybe JJ Reddick too. Danny Ferry and Christian Laettner come out of retirement...

I think it totally frees up New Orleans to trade Davis, only question is where?

Lakers, right? Knicks miss on the two best players and Davis because their pick now isn’t enough to make up for the player portion.

Depends how much David Griffin values Ingram and Kuzma, who may not actually be good NBA players. I wouldn’t assume NOLA takes a platter of prospects. Watch out for an aggressive move by a team that’s already good and has young All-Star caliber talent. I’m thinking of the teams at the top of the East who could offer up someone like Middleton/Brogdon, Siakam, or Simmons.

What on earth would the bucks do with Gianna’s and Davis? I don’t see that.

I get to spend two months with Thabeet flashbacks. I think Ja Morant is a no-brainer pick and hopefully with Chris Wallace out they don’t mess it up.

That is a great shot. The story of the year though is the DQ at the Kentucky Derby. A matching photo that shows Maximum Security bumping another horse, and the other jockey managing to keep that horse upright (potentially saving its (and others) lives) would give it a legit run for the money (pun intended). Not sure that photo exists, though.

I thought the way I watched was kinda weird, but after watching the actual televised event after the fact, I'm glad I went with Simmons and Rusillo.

This commentary is awkward and stupid. And the announcers' voices were heard throughout the room and on TV? Total cringe.

Yeah, that broadcast was atrocious. I always liked Rachel Nichols when she was doing reporting and feature stories, but this format turns her into Sports Kathie Lee Gifford. It's awful.

The old way, where this would be a five-minute segment during halftime of a playoff game, was perfect. This was an NFL level of self-indulgence.

Zach Lowe's newest.
Gentry rose from his chair. "F---, yeah!" he exclaimed. He raised his arms in celebration, and even turned to high-five six rival team representatives behind and around him. They reciprocated. "Sorry, sorry," Gentry said to the room as he sat back down and the drawing continued for the second, third and fourth picks.
Gentry knew the Pelicans had a shot. "Oh, s---," he thought to himself after that 12 came up, he told ESPN.com. Tommy Sheppard, the Wizards top executive since the team fired Ernie Grunfeld, also felt butterflies, he told ESPN.com afterward. The Wizards owned a few combinations featuring 4, 7, and 12. For a moment, Sheppard let himself envision Washington erasing a year of rotten feelings. "Of course you do that," Sheppard said. "But then you remember this is like bingo. You can't control anything."

I kinda want to post about what the media reaction would be if the Rockets lost by 22 to a Kevin Durant-less Warriors, but I won't.

Good because it would be from 3 years ago and losing by either 26, 9, 27, or 33

Same. I understand he's a musician of some renown, but I very literally don't know if I could identify anything he's done.

He owns his own plane...yeah, not a Gulfstream...

Inside "Air Drake": Rapper unveils new massive 767 plane, which could cost more than $187 million
Drake revealed his very own "Air Drake" on Instagram on Friday – a massive plane emblazoned with his own logos. But if you want to take a trip on the rapper's airline, you'll have to have some sort of inside connection. "No rental, no timeshare," he said in a video unveiling the Boeing 767.

Looks like Drake will be keeping the 30-seat airplane all for himself. And rightfully so – new 767-300F planes cost about $185 million – before customization, according to Airways magazine.

I'm pretty sure we had a "Who's this Drake fellow?" discussion years ago in here. Ultimately, if you don't follow hip hop you'd probably only know him from memes on Twitter or Reddit. He's a very meme-able musician that follows sports.

(And if not from memes then he's as recognizable as those makeup dudes from YouTube that went viral the other day.)

Yeah, Portland is a good team but they match up terribly against the Warriors, with or without KD. Portland’s perimeter defense isn’t nearly good enough to give them a sweat. They’ll probably win 1 game because Golden State gets disinterested so easily but I can’t see this series going more than 5. Whoever comes out of the East has a much better shot because the Bucks and Raptors are both excellent defensive teams and will have homecourt advantage in the Final.
