I think if this was nonlinear and the ref was demonstrating how he should stand before facing a penalty shot, there would be an ass-kicking.

Brazil's goalie too.Nonlinear FC wrote: ↑Tue Jun 25, 2019 3:21 pm I don't understand how you can be a goalie at this level and have an ass that big. Not sexist, I'd say the same thing if a dude had a dumper as wide and chunky as this NED goalie.

Re: Women's World Cup 2019
An interesting twist is that UEFA uses the World Cup as its Olympic qualifiers. Top 3 go to Tokyo next year.
So assuming the US beats France (big assumption), then the 3 winners of the other matches will go. If the US loses, then the finalists and the winner of the third place match goes. If you thought third place matches suck, that one will not.
The Olympics is a 12 team tournament and New Zealand gets a spot. Insane.

Very definitely the lamest two ass shots I've ever seen. Your application for a black card is denied. Don't bother applying again.

England coming out HOT. They seem to be much faster than Norway, and bossing the pitch through the first 9 minutes or so. The whiff that allowed the goal was a bit of a fluke, but the run of play has been pretty one sided so far.

Didn't notice it until Horan just subbed in and huddled with the rest of the squad, but she is an absolute unit.

That is the very definition of scoring a goal against the run of play.
And for all the shit we were giving Rapinoe, I'll gladly eat some it now. She was a beast in the first half, and goals are goals, can't deny her that.

Yes. Crowpinoe, I'm eating some as well. She's been quite good. Was worried the US's age would be a problem with this heat, but it's been even other than that stretch before the goal.

Passing has been atrocious from what I can tell. And the back line has been very shaky. Dunn has looked horrible.

a) I don't understand why the didn't seem to even review that offside call.
b) We are getting bossed and that goal was inevitable.
c) I don't mind Lloyd coming here.

They didn't even mark the tree that scored for France on that set piece. France looks so much better right now.

Now I'm no expert, but I thought Dunn played well. She's clearly not playing in her natural position, but she worked her ass off against Diani.
Renard, on set pieces, is legitimately terrifying.
Good win for the US, and Pinoe absolutely played huge when she needed to.

I am an expert, and I thought Dunn had a great game. Diani is a terror to mark. She is strong and extremely quick. Dunn got beat a few times, but never near the goal, and she worked her ass off to recover and block a bunch of shots. She looked like she was struggling at times, but she was pushed to 110% by a very talented player.DaveInSeattle wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2019 4:05 pmNow I'm no expert, but I thought Dunn played well. I haven’t really followed this tournament but between being one of the first white athletes to join Kaepernick’s protest and her performance on and off the pitch this week, Rapinoe has cemented herself as one of the all-time coolest athletes in my book.

Did I miss a rule change, where the ball doesn't need to leave the box on a goal kick?

She has received high marks all the way around. I don't follow the other countries and didn't do any research on France, so I had no idea how good Diani is/was supposed to be. I just thought Dunn's passing was off the mark. The Sybian wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2019 8:59 pmI am an expert, and I thought Dunn had a great game. Diani is a terror to mark. I've gone from mild annoyance with the Thai goal celebration to "she's a fucking baller" after her last two games. The French crowd was all over her and she got to stick their noses in it in glorious fashion.

Nonlinear is wrong on this one. The rule change was part of the new package on June 1. I don't think the MLS will adopt until next season.Nonlinear FC wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2019 10:27 amNope. The rule changes cover that one, some tweaks on offsides, change to PKs, offensive players in the wall

Semi-Final preview by Sue Bird...
So the President F*cking Hates My Girlfriend
So the President F*cking Hates My Girlfriend
(3) O.K. so now that that’s out of the way, I’ll answer The Question. The one that’s probably most on your mind. And by that I mean: What’s it like to have the literal President of the literal United States (of literal America) go Full Adolescent Boy on your girlfriend? Hmm. Well… it’s WEIRD. And I’d say I actually had a pretty standard reaction to it: which was to freak out a little.
That’s one thing that you kind of have to know about me and Megan: our politics are similar — after we won the WNBA title in Seattle last season, no way were we going to the (f*cking) White House! — but our dispositions are not. And as we’ve been talking through a lot of this “stuff,” as it’s been happening to her, you know, I’ll be honest here….. some of it scares the sh*t out of me!!
I mean, some of it is kind of funny….. but like in a REALLY? REALLY? THIS GUY??? kind of way. Like, dude — there’s nothing better demanding your attention?? It would be ridiculous to the point of laughter, if it wasn’t so gross. (And if his legislations and policies weren’t ruining the lives of so many innocent people.) And then what’s legitimately scary, I guess, is like….. how it’s not just his tweets. Because now suddenly you’ve got all these MAGA peeps getting hostile in your mentions. And you’ve got all these crazy blogs writing terrible things about this person you care so much about. And now they’re doing takedowns of Megan on Fox News, and who knows whatever else. It’s like an out-of-body experience, really — that’s how I’d describe it. That’s how it was for me.
Re: Women's World Cup 2019
the only reason I am looped in on this is because my regular pickup/coaches game has too many refs (and people who are not refs but want to be) and this was described (we play 11 v 11 or 12 v 12 with full rules...but no refs/call your own fouls which mean lots of arguing over offsides and ball to hand and 50-50 challenges for a game where we keep score but does not matter who wins)....Nonlinear FC wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2019 10:49 amGood looking out, WLU... The reason I made a poor assumption is that the handball rule was talked about so much, I figured at some point we'd have heard or seen the goal kick thing come up. I'm actually kind of shocked I hadn't seen someone orchestrate that move, because you know how tuned in I would be to something like that.
