Either they under-advertised it this time to prove a point or I've been watching all the wrong channels. I knew it was soon and I always watch the USA and I had no idea it started today.

France is all over Korea, and Torrent is very easy on the eyes.

The only Korean girl who can touch the ball is Cho, the blonde captain. Everyone else is a step behind.

I feel like the US media is only covering the USWNT, and not actually treating this like there are other teams playing.

I've enjoyed the team write ups that Deadspin is doing.

The women’s game seems to be more open. Not as many fouls. Although not sure that isn’t just a refereeing style. It’s a slower pace but there is a lot of skill for sure.

Big opening win for the maple leaves today.

Canada were in control of that match the entire way. Cameroon's defense was stout, but they had zero going forward.

I thought Argentina were lucky to draw against Japan. Japan just couldn't find a finish, and the Albiceleste also did a good job defensively.

Both England and Scotland impressed me yesterday. England's clearly the better team, but Scotland has a few lasses that are quite good. Emslie, their goal scorer, just signed to play with Orlando Pride, and she had a lot of the ball down the right wing yesterday. Cuthbert tried her best, but England were just too good.

If the US doesn't win, I'm rooting for Canada to somehow pull it out. Hell, a World Cup win seems as or more likely than an NBA title would have when Toronto was down 2-0 to Milwaukee.

That Netherlands-New Zealand game was exciting. Love watching these women play.

USA 1, Thailand 0 - Alex Morgan in 12th minute. Will be interesting to see how many goals the US scores. Since it's the first game and most third-place teams advance the incentive is there to run up the score (as unlikely as it might be that the US finishes outside the top two in their group.)

Should be 2-0. Morgan called for being offside prior to the 12th minute goal. It looked very close, with no real good replay angle.

Should've been a penalty. Should be 4-0.

Get all the bad calls out of the way this game. This Thai team has no chance. I don't think I've seen them string more than three passes together yet.

They haven't shown a replay yet, but Lavelle just got rocked.

Glad they're getting the Thais first and not the Swedes because despite the score, US don't look as sharp as they could. They've sent about a half-dozen balls into the 20th row.

You're asking a lot, IMO. Every game has a half dozen balls into the 20th row. This could easily be a double digit win.

I just wish I could find a good streaming site. Xfinity won't let me stream this game because I am not on my home network. All other streams are way too choppy and I missed all 3 goals so far because of the stream quality.

I think we're saying similar things. I don't mind an occasional mishit pass or shot, but these have all been without an opposing player anywhere near. In any event, this is a glorified exhibition and the timing couldn't be better.

Floodgates are open now. Three goals in five minutes in second half. 6-0.

I don't care if it's women and I don't care if Thailand is kind of a minnow, but nine goals in a World Cup game is damn impressive.

Yeah, make that 10. And not a single one via PK.

What a mismatch. This game doesn't mean much in the grand scheme (except goal differential if somehow we only finish 3rd in the group), but it sure does look fun to be wearing red on that pitch right now.

I'd bet the house on it.

I was working and my daughter yelled "goooalll" whenever they scored, so I had to watch some of it.

Honestly, short of running passing drills amongst themselves, I don't know how the Americans couldn't score.
