I haven't seen any of the celebrations yet, and my plan is to hang on and take the Arsene Wenger approach as long as I can.

That was a pretty weird own goal by France there.

Thailand is +6/even and I have to think they can hold Sweden under 7 goals. That just seems like an overreaction to that US beat down.

I'm sure I probably said this four years ago, but Brazil's uniforms having five stars over the crest for the men's world championships bothers me a little.

That's mandated payback for every Brazilian guy who has said "we're pregnant!"

Was just coming here to post the exact same thing.

I missed the first half, but the second half has been great (I've got the Aussies in a parlay with China).

This'll be an intersting call. Kerr is clearly offsides, but she never touches the ball. Is she in the play enough to warrant it being called back?

ETA - guess not

I don't care for the chyron that they run regarding the goals. They only show one goal per team at a time, and it's a bit confusing.

While fully acknowledging there are obvious differences between the men's and women's game, I feel like if you can't watch a game like this and be entertained that you're really just not a soccer fan (or a misogynist).

That new Nike advert with the mascot going out on the pitch with Martens is in Nike's long tradition of excellent soccer (mainly WC) ads. I love it.

It's an imperfect comparison, because they're fast, but the Chinese team reminds me of the fat guys on Nintendo hockey. Very physical, but absolutely no ability to finish.

As soon as you said that a nice finish from their #10.

Yep, and then a nice dribble by her into the box shortly thereafter as well.

South Africa, Australia, and Jamaica all having essentially the same colorways will always confuse me.

Australia always wears green and gold, despite those colors not appearing on their flag. Makes no sense.

FALKLANDS REMATCH!

Argentina's #10 looked pretty emotional during the anthem.

England scoring two first-half goals in this game would be a nice thing.

Hell of a PK stop there. Perhaps a shout for another penalty on the rebound attempt?

Argentina is easily the most improved nation in this tournament. They were absolutely garbage in every other WWC.

ETA: They're not in danger of scoring many goals, but they can defend fairly well and they couldn't even do that before.

Before the US-Thailand game, the previous largest defeat in the WWC was Germany over Argentina, 11-0, 4 years ago.

The Argentina keeper is having her "Tim Howard vs Belgium" moment...

For Africans, Cameroon are pretty organized defensively. They just lack the spark going forward.

The Thais with a goal!! Good on them. I've only watched a little of this match, but they've looked up for it. Really nice shot too.

Won this bet and also parlayed it with Chile +5 so hopefully the ladies keep the damage to a minimum today.

Thought about putting $$ on the Thais, and put $$ on the USWNT. Not crazy about how all the changes might affect their ability to outscore Chile by 5, but I'm thinking it's another US rout.

Yeah that was a bad call though I figured this game might be one where a couple of early goals would see the US take the foot off the gas in the second half.

Yeah but. Quality could have been better on a couple chances. The big midfielder/right back especially. Penalty. Second half generally.

This is honestly how I thought this game might go. Figured if US could get early three goal lead might take it easy in second half but they really haven’t. Chile’s keeper has been the difference of another bloodbath.
