My fourteen year old nephew has a girlfriend and wants to earn some money to be able to treat her to a meal. So he comes over and cuts the grass. Even does all the trimming after three hours of baseball practice. Glad to see the youth willing to do some work to earn the dough.

But fuck I gotta go back over several spots tomorrow.

My original plan was to pick him up, hang out and eat lunch and then i was going to do all the trimming while he cut tomorrow, which is what i texted him about. But today his dad showed up with their mower and trimmers and told him to get to work. The nephew worked non stop but I would have probably gave him a bit more instruction. My yard is at least twice the size of theirs so he was whipped at the end so I didn't want to be a jerk over one fenceline and some bad overlaps.

In a unanimous vote, General CQ Brown was confirmed as the 1st African-American Chief of Staff of the Air Force. (Correction: Of any military service. That's fucking huge.)

My youngest and my oldest racing go karts. This is a big deal if you know how nervous and anxious my youngest gets. He really digs these karts and loves racing his older brother. Look how happy.

She almost jumped off a bridge. She now returns there to post notes that have saved the lives of others.
Paige Hunter remembers hovering over the edge of a bridge three years ago with unsettling clarity. But what she recalls most vividly, she said, are the words of two strangers who stopped her from taking her own life.

“I was going through a lot at the time and dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder,” said Hunter, who lives in Sunderland, England.

As she stood perched atop the Wearmouth Bridge on that January evening, two onlookers approached her and said, “You are worth so much more than this,” Hunter, now 21, recalled. “Those words changed my life.”

She gingerly stepped away from the edge and turned toward home. She later thought to herself, “If those words could help me, who else could they help?”

The next day, on several pieces of paper, Hunter wrote down the same words the strangers imparted to her. Then she stuck the notes all over the Wearmouth Bridge.

Six years ago a woman thought she was texting her granddaughter about thanksgiving but was actually texting this dude here. He jokingly asked if he could still “get a plate”, she said of course, he went and they’ve been doing it every year since.

Looking at the Twitter thread and I saw that her husband passed away. Sad.

This is nice for me and only me, but I finally bit the bullet and just marked all email as read. I have a bad habit of letting shit sit there (had 6,500+ gmails unread) but this way I have them if for some reason I need them and now as unnecessary shit arrives I unsubscribe as fast as possible. So thanks guys, I'm doing great this morning!

Heh. 69th reply. Nice.

It very well could have been there! The world will never know. But I did break my hunger strike last night for a chili loaded baked potato.
