Man do I love a West Coast US Open! Everyone seems to think this year’s tournament is a foregone conclusion, and so do I, so I’ll just throw it to the crowd: can anyone stop Patrick Cantlay?

This is a real bet from the Westgate:
Will Tiger Woods’ opening tee shot find the fairway: Yes -145, No +125

primetime golf is extremely underrated as a sporting event in a given time window

The best thing about the Open at Pebble is the random people walking on the beach.

That’s a neat part of almost all British opens too.

Well. The people living in Monterey are likely sheep to that lifestyle.

Can the P Company not customize a hat for Fowler that doesn’t fit like he’s a first year little leaguer?

They should play a major in Hawaii.

Really late night golf.

I don’t really care for the FOX graphic that shows the putt track. It’s impressive technology but it’s a spoiler. I want to guess for myself what the putt is going to do!

It’s not always accurate either.

We noticed this before with Fox golf - but the audio is so messed up. It's like they've miked up individual yahoos at each hole and turned the volume up to 11.

Joe buck went missing for a long stretch during back nine I think.

Even Joe Buck can get the runs.

That’s what my wife and I decided, too!

That was a grown man round by woodland. Just never gave anything away. Pebble is a greatt course for an open.

I know this is a pile on, but Fox’s entire production is a dumpster fire.

Was there no crowd noise? I kept waiting for roads on huge shots and didn’t seem to be any real noise.

I hate that look. I was coaching baseball to little kids at a summer camp many years ago and this trend was juuuust starting to come around. I grew up where you'd take your hat and curl the brim and tuck it back up into the hat, so you'd get the brim curved for the long haul. These kids were coming in with a flat brim and it drove me crazy. I've learned to let it go, but I really don't like that look.

=-=-=-=-=

Agree with posters above on the putt tracker and on the audio. I bitched about the audio at the PGA Championships, too. It's like they've got spy technology employed, where they are listening in on one or two (obnoxious) people having a shitty conversation. It's very weird, and very distracting.

And the putt tracker stuff... Show me that AFTER if you want to break it down on replay. I don't mind the tracker from the tee box, but it sure seems like other broadcasts do much more work to show you the flight of the ball in real time without using that technology. Fox leans way too much on that stuff.
