What was up with Ederson yesterday? He completely butchered that game...

I'll bet that if someone had polled Spurs fans, 95% would have been happy if the entire season had been cancelled.

Excited to watch the EPL, but dreading the return of Mourinho ball.

I think they should have cancelled and invalidated this season but kept Champions League going.

Same except cancel Champs league too and play Europa only.

The Blades were properly fucked by goal line technology. Apparently someone forgot to plug it in.

This is such a weird XI, although any stuff I don't like is outweighed by seeing Garcia get the nod.

All of the Hawk Eye cameras were blocked and the VAR official did not intervene because the on field official did not receive a signal. What about the microphones, run down to the 4th official...or open a window and yell...not a whole bunch of crowd noise to deal with.

As soon as I saw Luiz taking off the warmups, I knew he would cost Arsenal the game with a major blunder. Just a shame the ref didn't help Arsenal out sooner by sending him off. By the time he showed Luiz red, he already cost Arsenal 2 goals.

Is Harry Maguire really a top CB? Like my frame of reference would be VVD or Laporte; is Maguire really at/near that tier but a different style, or is he a guy who got a deal like them and in three years it'll be acknowledge they badly overpaid?

I think he's been very good for most of the season, but that goal exposed his worst problems. Lack of pace and quick twitch change of direction. He'd have been better off circling instead of a full 180.

That said, De Gea should have stopped that.

I'm sure this is a bad analogy, but the lack of pace there made me think about how true centers that could dominate the 90s in the NBA would be fucked today. Not to that degree, but he just seems far different than the elites guys I'm aware of.

I hate, hate, hate Jose Mourinho.

You see how exhausted Son and Kane were after the 60th minute? Yet they stayed out there for the entire game. He's done this before, like he's trying to prove a point about not having another striker.

And he starts Dier - who played decently until he got tired near the end - despite having two Belgians Vertonghen and Alderweireld on the bench. Simply inexcusable to have 3 unused subs in the first game back.

Maguire is not at VVD’s level. Far from it. That said, it’s not a coincidence that United’s defense has gotten much better as he’s settled. He is a great organizer and communicator, and is extremely good at certain things, plus very handy with the ball. He can be got at with pace, as seen yesterday. So he really needs to be paired with someone like Bailly in my eyes. I’m with AB though too, DdG should have saved that.

I have to say it was nice to not be on the receiving end of a late career Mourinho game. After seeing that happen so many times when he was our manager I loved the shit out those last ten minutes. Makes his team sit deep and is happy to not have the ball. Meanwhile it only takes one mistake from a tired defender, which is exactly what happened. I really thought the Greenwood chance was going to go in.

That Bergwijn goal was really nice, and Maguire definitely should have done better. I agree with fivesides, Bailly seems to be the best partner for Maguire.

I absolutely love Fernandes. The Total Soccer Show guys mentioned in their pod right before the restart that since his arrival, United have a really well defined 6-8-10 with McTominay, Fred, and Bruno. I agree that they all seem to fit well there. They also mentioned that Pogba's best position is as a replacement for Fred. They mentioned his work as an 8 for France in WC2018, and I agree, that's when I've seen him at his best (admittedly, I didn't watch much of him with Juve). Pogba is clearly better than Fred, but Fred was really good before the break. I'm not sure if Fred can slide back to 6 and spell McTominay, but I don't really see all three of them fitting into the same midfield.

I was only able to pay half attention to yesterday's game while watching at work, but unless Daniel James can hone a little bit more skill, his speed just isn't enough of an asset to warrant a starting place.
