I love it when businesses have their pets around. When I was young I used to hang out at a record shop (think: like the one in High Fidelity) where they had cats lying across some of the record bins. It was always funny when you had to move a cat to search for a particular record. Also, there is a great little winery in Sonoma County called Porter Creek. They used to have an enormous Great Pyrenees dog that would just lie down right in the middle of their tasting room, forcing all the patrons to move around him, which wasn't that easy because it was a small room. It was pretty funny, because he was a great old dog who was perfectly content to have people all around him scratching his neck as he snoozed. Sadly, last time we visited they told us he had passed away.

It is like the Hard Knocks focus on the Browns' dog in the office.

Former swamp citizen, LouTheGiantRat, had to institute a no pets policy at one of his companies after "an incident".

(sorry for the bump)

Gus had another episode.

I wasn't home this time (already at work), but it sounded worse in the moment. More peeing. Poop this time. Kids freaking out.

My wife took him to the 24 hour emergency vet (which conveniently enough moved to brand new offices in our town from their former location a couple of towns away) and their first thought was focal seizure. After a little more observation, they think he has vertigo. He's on some meds. Going to need to keep him off the stairs for a couple of days.

I know you are making a joke, but it's actually pretty impressive that they can train the Agriculture dogs to only signal for meat, cheese and produce, while ignoring all other food items. There are other items they detect, but I'm too lazy to look.

Why did I tear up when I saw that last shot? No question I'll watch, but there will definitely be sad, sad scenes.

Good luck as well.

My wife really wants a second dog. God help me - Izzy already takes up most of my morning.

I would honestly rather not - but the minute a dog walks in the door, it would not be leaving. She knows this, and I have a feeling it could happen this winter...

That is so exciting!

With our last dog, we got to the breeder's a little late and instead of the male westie we had wanted, we got a standoffish female.

That was a hell of a good dog!

All dogs are good dogs and I'm super excited for you guys! Want to see some pictures!

(Small note to please consider adopting from local rescues or shelters in addition to looking at breeders. And please spay/neuter your pets! We have a terrible terrible problem with pet overpopulation here and there are lots of great pets that end up spending their life/end of their life in a small cage because someone got tired of taking them outside or had a baby or had to move or their owner died.)

In our defense, our two Great Pyr were rescues (Rizzo still here and Jax RIP), and every dog we've had before this was a pound type (Penny, Ashley and Nicky all RIP). This is probably gonna be our first and last time going this route.
Please don't! Not intended that way at all. I just see so much of it first hand since Meg volunteers at our local shelter almost every weekend. They're all good dogs and they all need good loving homes. Just like everything else, no dog asks to be born to a breeder or given up or anything else. They're all great. I'd just like fewer breeders in the world going forward. Not that there's not a place for some of them, but I don't care for the industry as a whole.

I'm sure the new pup will be great and I hope it fits in wonderfully with your family!
