No. She's a handful at times but I really think that she didn't get much playtime with Grandma. Still haven't got her completely house trained either because by the time you notice she's about to piss on the floor she's done. Take her out pretty much every hour, but it's hit and miss. Does sleep through the night, though, so no issues there. Doesn't destroy anything except her toys (wore out a kong ball in a week!) and will find even the smallest thing that might be on the floor and try to eat it, so it's fun to fight to get a piece of a wrapper or whatever out of a tiny death trap of teeth.

She and the cat don't get along, but are coming to more of an understanding. The understanding being that the cat's stance is full on "don't start nothing, won't be nothing. But if you start something, I'll finish something."

How come no one told me dogs require vets?

Anyway, we have some kind of abcess on a front paw. Vet told us to do warm compresses and clean it really good today and then bring in tomorrow morning unless it heals dramatically.

Biggest mistake we made was not getting pet insurance. I danced around it a couple times never pulled the trigger. We paid dearly for it...you all would cringe at the annual number. I think it's must if you have pure-breed anything.

Some of you may have seen his donut of shame earlier in the year. That started out with him gnawing at his belly, and eventually he ended up with an skin condition that we just this month seem to have kicked. That treatment required an antibiotic, which included instructions to call the vet if he vomited or was lethargic or lost his appetite. He’s been on it for over 2 weeks, but threw up in the middle of the night last night and was out of it this AM. So to the vet we went, and after an x-ray they say he has a mass in his abdomen, maybe related to the stray nut, and needs an ultrasound ASAP (today) to confirm. Then most likely surgery. For a 16 year old dog who we’ve also been told has a heart murmur. Not a good day.

They couldn’t get the painkillers to kick in enough to get him to stay on his back so they could do the scan before the whistle blew on ultrasounds for the day so we drove the 40 minutes back home with him and I’ll take him back in the morning. The painkillers seemed to really hit him once we got home and he’s barely budged from where he flopped on the floor when he walked inside. Poor dude.

Thanks guys.

The parking lot of this 24/7/365 vet is a roller coaster of cute (and sometimes adorably injured with adorable little casts) pets and crying pet owners.

As for my dog sounds like surgery on Tuesday pending a pre-op echocardiogram. He’s coming home in the meantime, hopefully he’ll eat better the next couple of days than he did yesterday.

Out of surgery, so far so good. It was the testicle, and in addition to the possibly cancerous mass attached to it the entire thing had become torqued(!) at some point and the doc thinks that may have been what was causing the most recent discomfort.
