Re: Man's Best Friend
Hey, why can't I see the pics? I just see a grey line, and on my phone it just says the word "image."

I only see images that look like "?", or maybe it's a pic of the dog's behind?

Dunno. Anyone else ?
Re: Man's Best Friend
I obviously see them. Looks like you're sharing from google photos? Maybe something being blocked there on ER and syb's side(s)?
I felt aswirl with warm secretions.
Re: Man's Best Friend
I saw them when he posted them originally and now I can’t.

Likely a permissions issue from the googles photos.

I can see the pup, but can no longer see the elder dog.

Maybe the older dog failed to reunite his parents at the "Enchantment Under the Sea" dance.

MC Gusto is definitely slowing down in this his 17th year. Vet says he lost muscle mass in his back legs, and asked how he was getting around and whether I was carrying him down the stairs. I said no, but weeks later the answer was yes. I think he’s smart enough to not trust himself. Good boy.
We’re trying to ween him off the couch since he had a couple of incidents where he jumped off and his back legs didn’t hold up. Bought him a downstairs bed this week, and started putting the cushions up on the couch. Someone left one down this morning and....

Can we post kitten photos here? Wife and kids picked up two from the Humane Society for "fostering" until they're old enough to be spayed or neutered. We'll see how getting rid of them in a few weeks goes.

My 13-year-old lab has arthritis and I started carrying her up and down our stairs about a year or so ago. She's a dog who HAS to be in the same room with you, so I have to bring her up at night to sleep. About six months ago, I brought out the old ramp I built for our garage stairs (about 3-4 steps) for a previous dog. That's now the only way she can get in and out of the house by herself.rass wrote: ↑Sat May 08, 2021 1:22 pm MC Gusto is definitely slowing down in this his 17th year. Welp, suddenly eye-patch shopping.

Funny enough, 'dan crenshaw' appears to be a popular seo term for etsy sellers.
Re: Man's Best Friend
After an ER run to CSU Friday night, the procedure happened yesterday. Will post pics of the one-eyed monster when the swelling goes down.

He would never and you won't besmirch his good name (Whatever it is, I can't remember) on my watch, good sir.
You know what you need? A lyrical sucker punch to the face.
Re: Man's Best Friend
At least Colorado State has a great vet hospital. Hope it all works out, PDX.
One summer when I was a student at CSU I worked as a desk clerk at a local hotel, which allowed pets. People brought in expensive show dogs from all over the place for treatment at the vet hospital. One lady asked me where was the nearest grocery store, because her dog needed eggs for breakfast.

Thanks SC. So far so good.
I thought it sucked to have to drive up there from Boulder on Friday night. When I got there there was a guy in front of me who had driven his dog there from North Dakota that same day.

Re: Man's Best Friend
This is the same dude from '08, right? Was it an age/breed thing or did something happen?
Driving from ND to Boulder feels the middle-America equivalent of everyone around here driving to the big 24-hour emergency/surgery vet center down at the shore.

Re: Man's Best Friend
Yeah same dog. He had a blind eye that had a lot of issues and the final one was glaucoma that came on pretty quick. It looked terrible and caused him a lot of pain so it was an easy decision.
Re: Man's Best Friend
the young pup so far has made two unplanned vet visits...
a month ago he seemed to have hurt himself chasing the other dog.. hurled over her, landed poorly and twisted his leg...
last night he got diarrea .. aroudn four then again around seven, puked up several times and woke us up overnight.. had a good bm around 3am.. then puked up again this morning.. vet visit around 10.. they say he's gained weight since tuesday (reg appt) and see nothing wrong w him, feel nothing wrong w him.. gave him some meds. and special food.. hoping it clears up.. i do all the walk w him.. he hasn't eaten anything (although he is constantly picking up all sorts of sticks) weird and the tiem he spent in the yard, there's nothing there i can see that would cause something.. if it doesn't clear up, xrays and bloodwork!
we did the get the insurance on this one .. maybe jinxed us?

Re: Man's Best Friend
Did they do a fecal? Sounds like standard clostridium / giardia.
Re: Man's Best Friend
unsure. we didn't have a fresh sample.
but..
he has gained weight... isn't dehydrated.. and diarrea stopped around7p last night -- all his bms since then are normal... so just the vomiting is the only sympton.
his medicine took effect.. so we just fed him a small meal as per the vet . not allowed any treats or chewsticks today or tomorrow.

Re: Man's Best Friend
When mine has had bouts of the shits or pukes I've usually just tried withholding food for a day, or part of a day at least, and then gone with a bland diet (potatoes or rice and boiled chicken and/or broth), as long as he's still willing to eat. Only time I worry is if he loses his appetite completely.
There were no meds or vaxx at the check-up earlier in the week that might have knocked him off his game?

Yeah, we've done that though ours doesn't seem to be the biggest fan of it.

Re: Man's Best Friend
Our dog was on Taste of the Wild for most of his life until around this time last year he started to develop a sensitive stomach, to go alongside his skin condition (Apoquel for the win $$$)...A $600 vet visit later, he's been on Hill's Science Diet for Sensitive Stomaches. This past year he's been much better.rass wrote: ↑Fri Jun 11, 2021 12:58 pm When mine has had bouts of the shits or pukes I've usually just tried withholding food for a day, or part of a day at least, and then gone with a bland diet (potatoes or rice and boiled chicken and/or broth), as long as he's still willing to eat.
